I bought a BB Torch 9810, locked to Bell Mobility in Canada last week.
It is running OS 7.0.0.261 (Bundle 1355)
It is also activated on a BES.
I have an unlock code, and was going to unlock the phone. I pulled the battery, put in a different carrier SIM card, and rebooted the phone, which took abnormally long.
After rebooting, the phone asked if I wanted to enter the unlock code.
I was just about to click "YES" and the blackberry ID screen came up.
It said, that since there was a new SIM the BBID needed to be logged in.
So here are my catch 22's I need help with:
1) I can't exit out of the blackberry ID screen, in order to enter my unlock code.
2) I can't get a signal for the phone to log in the BBID because the SIM is not the correct carrier for the phone.
So how has anyone else been able to unlock an OS 7 phone, and how do you get around the BBID screen?
Note: the phone is very laggy when it boots up with a "non-approved" SIM. I don't know what it is doing, but it won't respond to screen, or keyboard at first, because it is possibly checking the SIM?
ALSO: After this episode of frustration, the battery is draining from full to empty very quickly, (ie. about an hour) The phone is also getting very hot. So i assume the processor is running like stink doing something, creating heat and draining the battery. this is after I put the original SIM back in.
The thing that baffles me is this abnormal battery behaviour, because nothing in the phone was actually changed. i never was able to enter my unlock code?
Any thoughts?
