You won't get a new one from vzw either way no matter what you do. unless you are within your worry free guarantee period. (first 30 days after purchase)and your problem is a manufacturer defect.
Asurion, which is the insurance company, will charge you around 80 bucks(deductible for smart-phones is that much) for a new phone and you can pay 8 bucks extra for overnight if not you'll have to wait 2 BD's. the liquid indicator stickers are in the battery and inside the phone and once they got wet they won't become white again. (paint is liquid)
I'm suprised you can't buy the water stickers on ebay.
Why no hair dryer, a couple of weeks ago I accidently dropped my wifes curve in a glass of soda. I pulled it out right away and took out the battery. We didn't have any rice in the house so I put her hairdryer on the low and cool setting and blew it for around a hour. The air wasn't hot or warm, it is basically a high powered fan. We left the battery off for a day and when I put it back in the phone started right up.
So here's the update! 30 hours in the rice seems to have really helped. It was still a little wanky, so today I used a blow dryer on low heat (no heat). That really seemed to be the finishing touch. It's working!!!! I have to see how well it works and how long it lasts though. I can see some discoloration behind the screen, so at some point, I'll go through insurance. I want to wait until tomorrow and see the Storm 2 before I make any moves.
Thanks for all the GREAT advice!!!!!

ins will cover anything its not a warranty from verizon.
Call assurion which is the ins holder pay your $50 deductible and they will ship a new phone to you with instructions to send them the defective one back.
