Thread: when texting do you get the letter ghost box above the letter

do you text and sometimes and get the box of the letter you are trying to text above the box. say you're trying to text the letter "y" and you get a box above the "y" telling you that's the letter you are about to type...i've only seen it a few times on the storm...i'm running 4.7 ...its extremely slow...i just tried it tonight and i had to put my finger on a letter on the keyboard for 20 seconds and the ghost of the letter "s" still did'nt show..the letter "y" takes 5 seconds....is rim going to solve this with the new os? the iphone does it but with the storm its too slow...i just take my guess when typing....i know the keyboard now. i've tried 5.0.0.230 and i don't remember those ghost boxes above the letter when typing. so is rim going to keep these ghost boxes above the letters?

It is a feature within the 5.0 builds. It's something you can turn on/off and you can find it within the keyboard/screen options menu.
Ghost text is a name used by the iphone rim calls it it "popup text"

ok thanks...i didnt even know its called ghost text...its what it looks like though...but rim pop up..ok...stupid of rim to put it in 4.7 os and we cant really us it...i kinda like it...and i noticed it after the last official 4.7 update.

What you are seeing in the 4.xxx builds is accents for different languages and does not appear on every letter.. The ghost text, like the iphone, is in all the 5.xxx builds and is just as fast and just as good as the iphone.

yeah if i type in bbm its the letter accents but when i type an sms its not an accent its the letter and its super slow...but i will wait for 5 os to really use.

It may actually be called Popup keys in your screen/keyboard menu not key ghosting.
