Thread: Enlisting help with Enhanced Gmail Plugin

Ok, so here is my issue. I was unaware of the plugin for gmail till after i upgraded to .230. There have been several reports that the plugin works in .230. I resent my service books from BIS to reset my settings for my email and i have been provided a link for the plugin OTA but since i have .230 and it is not certified to work with 5.0 yet it will not let me continue with the download.

so here is what i am asking. could someone with the plugin already please dump / backup thier JAR/COD files so i may restore from BBSAK or from my SD card. or if there is someone with 4.7 that could navigate to the download for me and post back to me the actual link to the download from the download page i will try to make the offline / OTA myself and help out other gmail users as unfortunate as i am. I would do this myself but my install is working great and i am scared that i might break how well it is working by downgrading / upgrading again. thanks for any help any of the great BBOS users out there can provide in my quest to get this plugin working!

FIXED!!!

ok so for those of you who are on .230 with gmail and have yet to install your ENHANCED GMAIL PLUGIN here is how to install the plugin i have tested with much help from the forums especialy Morganizer and bdube!!! thanks alot guys!!!

1. download: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
2. BACKUP just in case
3. unzip files to folder
4. Load COD files with BBSAK in this order:
- net_rim_bb_gmail_resource__en.cod
- net_rim_bb_gmail_help_en.cod
- net_rim_bb_gmail.cod
5. phone should reboot after you load the last file
6. browse to your gmail specific folder and you should
be prompted with the license agreement.
7. Enjoy your Enhanced Gmail!!!

The advanced gmail plugin is native to the 5.0 firmware you installed so no need to download

ummm... no? am i wrong that you are able to place stars on email and such with the plugin!? if it is built in to the os then how come i am not able to do any of the advanced options? and, if it is already built in then why was i sent a link to download the plugin from my BIS server? Maybe i did not explain my situation thoroughly enough. Sorry about that.

you can in the gmail specific mail folder, the one named with your gmail email address...not in your actual messages folder.

i just tried that and to no avail. it does not work there either... ill try deleting the account and adding it back. see if that works

Edit: nope... still cant star anything or whatever. plus it sent me another link to download the plugin. ill post a screenshot in a sec

something i came across...

if you have your sms and messages set to same folder apparently it blocks the features even if you open the specific gmail folder...

good tip! but... they are separate already. good thing to remember tho!

ok so totally re-read your initial post.

for the enhanced gmail plugin to work you need to first delete your current gmail account thru the email setup menu, and then re-add it...im pretty sure this should fix it, as there is a new gmail option in the email settings so it comes with new service books you currently arent getting with your old configuration

unfortunately i have tried that as well as also stated above! haha. i appreciate all your insight thus far tho.

did u add and delete you gmail on your phone or online?

also, if it was thru ur phone you did have a specific gmail option right

Do you have any of the Gmail Lab add ons working for you if so take them off and see if this helps.....

first time was thru web and the second time was thru my phone. and yes the second time thru i did have a specific gmail option on my phone. set it up and in the email specific folder no extra options still...
