I am mezmorized at the fact that my phone auto unlocks after I take it out of the holster. It's my old Treo holster but it still works. Does anyone know how it does this. I have examined the possibilities and can't figure it out.

It works like a calculator that turns off when the light doesnt hit it anymore.
Not sure the proper term, but you get it.
Thats what I thought too but it doesn't do it when it's in my pocket. Only the holster.
No, I have a case that protects the lock button from getting hit. It couldn't be that.
I think it is magnets in the holster. I had a Voyager and with my Blackberry, there is a magnet in the holster. I think the unit senses the magnet and lock/unlocks accordingly.
There is a magnet inside of the case and one in the device that detects the field and does an action. In your case, unlocks the device.
Edit: It's a very weak magnet so for the love of xenu, don't go putting a neodymium next to your phone.
Edit2: b10
Yea, there is a magnet that holds the case shut. That was my other thought.
