BB newbie here (take it easy on me!) Got my storm on Friday, using it on Alltel, it was working perfectly until I changed the home screen with a pic of my kids and the DREADED 523 error appeared. I have been searching this site and CB and it seems like I need to wipe and reload the OS. I have downloaded the hybrid 3 OS. I want the best way (and easiest) to do this. Can you give me some advice? Is there another way? I went back to my Treo until I can weather the storm:eek:!

No, I don't have JL_cmder yet, do I just google it to download. My biggest concern is downloading a file that may be corrupt. I keep seeing that come up in the research I have been doing. Thanks for the support, this seems like an awesome site!!!!

Great news! I used JL Cmdr and did a reset to factory. I was going to install Hybrid V3, but I noticed in the instructions that I should have a Loader files folder. I do not have this folder, so I was hesitant to paste and try the load. The reset worked and I was able to get back to version .75. I'm thinking can I go from.75 to the V3? Your help and this site has been terrific. THANKS!!! :)

I will be working on this tonight. Question: is the 114 exe different from the Hybrid v3? It sounds like it is. Where do I load each file in my pc? Is it location specific? Thanks for all the help!
Yes and no, the 114.exe is an executable file. The hybrid is not an executable and requires a cut and paste method over the executable once it is installedQuote:

Okay!!! Followed all your steps and it reloaded flawlessly!!!!! I am going to activate it and see how it reacts!!! One thing I noticed is that ESN Dec and Hex numbers are different, can you shed any light on this? They are pESN numbers now. BLACKBERRYOS ROCKS!!!! I will definitely become a VIP member!!!!! :)
They should be MEID #'s, check by going to Options/statusQuote:
