BBM and EMAIL while on call?

Ok, I have never noticed this before but I have been running the new .191 OS and Using my jawbone bluetooth headset. Now when I am on a call I do not get emails or BBM. Now as soon as I hang up they are delivered. Is this something that I just have not noticed before or is this an OS issue? Thanks in advance for help.

On CDMA you can't do voice and data simultaneously. So you just never noticed it before. Only on GSM 3G you can BBM, email, browser while on a voice call.

Perfect. Like I said this is the first time I have ever used a bluetooth device so normally I am not sending and receiving while on a call. Thank you very much for the help. Sorry to sound like such a nOOb!

Glad I can help. And it was a good question to ask, most people don't really know that CDMA doesn't allow for that.

Just to clarify here you can do this if you're on GSM either 2G or 3G

I definitely noticed that when I went from AT&T to VZW last winter... and noticed again when I went back to AT&T. A very nice feature

Just to clarify here you can do this if you're on GSM either 2G or 3G
If you can do it on 2G, how come it always says a voice call is in progress and won't the browser. Same with BBM messages.

This Is why AT&T is going after Verizon, Because verizon claim to have the best 3G but cant do voice and data at the same time and that kis apart of 3G (not just speed)

Just for conversation's sake I just disable WiFi, turned on 2G only, and made a test call. Data services were disabled during the call, here is what it showed:

(This is on AT&T with 3G disabled)

VZW is running CDMA. Both VZW and AT&T have 3G, but AT&T is GSM. Different bands.

    That's exactly what I get!

Off of AT&Ts site. "BroadbandConnect uses the only 3G technology natively supporting simultaneous voice and data." Sounds like it's just 3G.

One of the great things about ATT. I love having simultaneous data and voice. Good times.

One more reason to stay away of ATT, I can do everything at the same time with Tmobile's EDGE (2G) and recently when I went overseas tested it on GSM networks and it worked fine.....

Yes, the statement that you cannot run both voice and data on CDMA is wrong. Verizon blocks that, AT&T does not. AT&T is 3G on GSM, Verizon is 3G on CDMA. Please don't confuse people.

There was a version I ran on my Curve last year that was a mistake by verizon and was allowing both voice and data simultaneously. I forget the version, but I bet you could search it out here.

this is something new no matter what they have said before. you never were able to even get the notification before that you had an email or bbm while on the phone call. For some reason after loading up this 191 it at least lets you know instead of waiting until the call ends
