Thread: BBM 4.7 OTA for O.S 5.0+

I have the new 5.0.0.191 BETA OS and I can't get BBM 4.7 to work. I have install .191 after a wipe and have ticked the BBM when installing through apploader but I have not been able to get it to work. It is not showing up on my phone anywhere even though Apploader says that it will be installed

I have now done this twice and it is nt working so i figured that if I get the OTA, it just might work...

Any help would be appreciated :hail:

Thanks alot Bryan but its still not working for me!... I downloaded the BBM 4.7 (1st one) and while it successfully installed, it still did not show up on my Storm :-(

did you do the old school battery pull? can you see it anywhere on your application add-ons?

i did this yesterday and it didn't work. It removed where it said that i had bbm5.0 but the 4.7 never showed up and i had to reconnect to dm and put it in that way.

I would say maybe try and delete the bbm 5.0 application from your phone first then install 4.7 ota. It might work that way

TRying to get BBM on my phone has been so frustrating. I have played with my storm enough to understand hiw to get an app on the phone via OTA, DM or App Loader. None of these ways are effective. I even used Lyricidals file and put the alx/cod files for 4.7 in the OS and reloaded and on my phone the application said that I had BBM 5.0.0.8.

Has anyone else had success with getting 4.7 on their storm?

What os do you have installed on your phone now? If it is a straight OS then do the following

Delete OS off PC through control panel add/remove

then navigate to C-programs files-common files-research in motion-shared-loader files- and delete anything in that folder.

Now on your phone delete any bbm that may be installed

Empty recycle bin then reload the OS you have installed on your phone back onto pc. Then run loader.exe and and it should update your core apps and put bbm back on the list to load.

I have done that before, but I did not delete my recycle bin. I going to do that and if it works, I am going to kick myself for not deleting my recycle bin.

Well Bryan.

No luck. I followed tohse instructions and when I redownloaded the OS. I could see BBM and the box was checked, but under action it said none. I am at a total lose. Something that seems so easy is truly frustrating. I think I am going to go back to .140.

And you tired the OTA for it with no luck as well?

Yes sir. I download them and then when I look in my applications, it does not show up.

OK just to double check

Your are deleting any BBM listed in applications on your phone. Then downloading 4.7 ota here

After that finishes you are rebooting your phone. Then it should show up? Sorry if this is a rehash just making sure

Like I said this is some frustrating S#$%t!!!

Unless someone can swoop in with another answer here is what I would suggest


Delete all old OS's off your pc through control panel
check loader files folder and delete anything in there
empty recycle bin
Wipe you phone you with BBSAK
download fresh copy of OS and start over

Just another suggestion as I had the same issue. It is located in the Finding thread #1 and is post #470. But in a sense, I got a suggestion from naillady to instead run the o.s through Lyricidals Shrink os program and it worked wondefully. I was just as frustrated before and I was very much so about to give up before i got this suggestion. Maybe give this a try in there as well. I didn't touch anything in Shrink os mind you, but I just ran the O.S. through it. Either way, good luck.
