Thread: Warning about playing with camera.cod

I just wanted to shed some light on something. This screen shot is of one of my storms's. I had loaded .140, .154, .191. Beginning on .154 I got this screen when I tried to use the camera. So I downgraded and it worked fine. I then did the .191, and was getting the reset issue that everyone is. So I began to playing with the camera.cod from many different os's. While running .191 I got this screen, I thought sweet I may be getting closer as it didnt reset my device. So after a lil more toying, changing out the video.cod, I couldnt get past this. So I downgraded to straight .191, still got this screen and error. No biggie wiped and downgraded to .148...still getting this error, .75 same. So i am 97% I have fried something. Not sure what but no matter how many batt pulls I do I get this. I make sure the only apps running are bbm(tried 4.7 and 5.0), phone, homescreen, messages, browser. The base apps. So unless anyone out there has an answer I would not mess to much with what is there, I am going to get this phone replaced but I have not dropped the phone, thrown it or any really jarring effects, this was all because of os and I am at a loss because usually a downgrade or batt pull is all better. Anyhow just a forewarning to all.

you might try doing the security wipe on the handheld first,then wipe and reload.

lol thats what i thought at 8am, when it got to be 4pm i knew i had covered it all lmao

Done it, didnt make a difference. I even tried with no third party apps lol

Did you wipe the phone load .148 then do a security wipe?

Did you try crackutil and do a wipe device file system?? Just a thought...

yes, and tried with .75. every combination I could think of

I have tried every program availble to wipe devices, and xp, vista 32 and vista 64 lmao. Thats why i havent been around all day

This is the same problem I had when trying to get threaded sms into 141. I fixed mine using the following method...

wiped with jl, wiped with bbsak, installed 4.7.148 then upgraded back to 141. Try this.

thanks P3, but what if i told you i did a security wipe, jl, bbsak, crackutil, dm to .75, dm to .148? and every combination in between? lol I really am at a loss. I think its fried i am not too worried i can get it replaced, just wanted everyone to know what happened. If I see something here I havent tried I will be willing tom but today i have had enough os changing lmao... but yea its odd. I tried installing from dm from apploader...just damn

try this:

plug in your phone to computer
open up command prompt (start menu->run->cmd->enter)
type cd c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
type LOADER.exe /resettofactory
enter

a new command prompt will open, and you may have to enter your device password. let it to its thing, and then try again.

(if this does not work, MAKE SURE when you are removing an OS from your computer, than you manually go into your c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\ and manually delete the entire folder.) then reinstall OS to computer.

Use crackutil and remove all the camera cod files, then do a reset to factory even if the phone has any java error on screen do the reset to factory, then wipe then reload the OS.



Is not fried is just that you are a little bit tired my friend, there is no way to fry a BB just playing with the cod files

I did the force apploader restore no avail

this i have not tried... am copying to note pad for tom. I have had enough tonite lol. although I have tried restoring to factory when at the 507 screen and then a reload, not removing all camera cod though.. thanks e

Have you tried to reinstall the OS's onto your computer after you had messed around the all the COD files?

yea i installed them all, pulled the cods i wanted then removed them all. When I got done i was going through dm so I didnt have a single os installed on the pc

Try loading .75 on your device, then going through the Verizon site to do the update to the .148?

That's what i'm doing right now, just because I have nothing else to do at the moment *LMAO* I wanna see if the OTA from .75 to .148 is still up and functional......

I think i'm gonna play with .75 for a few minutes before I run the OTA..... reminisce about how frustrating it once was....

EDIT: Meh, .75 isn't quite as bad as I had remembered....... Slight lag, but nothing horrible.....

WOW, that is alot of effort to get a PHONE to take pictures, kudos to your efforts but I just use my Olympus Stylus 780 Camera and I don't ask it to make calls for me. sorry, just trying to inject some humor where discouraging results were winning, just in fun :laugh2:
