BBM sounds not playing - intermittent

Hey all,

I've got a problem with my 9530: BBM alerts, like new messages, etc, will at times refuse to play. I'll get a new message in BBM, the LED goes red, and I hear a slight *click* from the speaker as if it were trying to play something, but in the end no alert tone is played.

This happens regardless of my sound profile settings (I rarely change between them) - I've tried switching them when I have the issue but it doesn't seem to help.

Anyone else suffer this? It's intermittent - I'd say there's a 50/50 chance of it working fine vs. not working.

I searched around, but the only mention I could find on the forums was for a Curve: linky.

So, can anyone lend me some advice?

First and foremost WELCOME TO BBOS!!!

have you tried a battery pull?
what os do you currently have?
and do you have any apps like berry buzz on the phone?

Thanks for the welcome! I've been lurking a while, and did the VIP thing for v7...yay!

I battery pull all the time, usually every other day or so.
I'm on BBC v8, .151 base.
No themes or apps that affect sound whatsoever.

Do you have a ringtone for that or just the stock?

Welcome Rem!

Sorry but I havent had that problem. My wife is on the 9000 with BBM 5 and has had no issues what so ever. Its so weird. Anyways, the only sound issue that I can remember having is the clicking of the screen (on my 9530). Anyone know what happened to that option?

I haven't loaded any custom ringtones - the one I expect to play in BBM is the bikebell.

Yes, BBM 5.0 now, but it was also happening with previous versions.

hmmmmmmmhmhmhmhmm, have you tried(i know dumb question) changing the ringtone, not the profile just that one ringtone?

I will now - it is the only constant, aside from hardware, in this case. I'll report back.

ok, if it were your speaker it would do it for any ring though not just that one.
