    Question about unlocking my storm...

Hello, my Verizon signal is not the best in some places around where I live. If I unlock my storm will I be able to use other providers towers (I'm confused)? thanks for your help...

Not unless you have that provider as well, or at least thats how I understand it, if they are gsm towers then ...its sketchy as the storm was devolved with Europe gsm in mind, and if they are other cdma carriers try *22899.

Unlocking allows you to use any other carriers simcard on your phone. It does not provide free internet access or free usage of their towers.

I know on the 9000 Bold with OS 5.0 it gives you the option to use either 2G or 3G.

dialing *228 from an unlocked 9530 does not work. I thought it would do a PRL update. I guess it all depends on the network frequency despite having a CDMA radio.

no if your using your phone as a gsm phone you will not be able to update that way i believe you have to manually put in the prl updates...I could be wrong.

This is true but not all carriers allow you to roam even voice calls on their system with out charges, that would be something you wouild want to check first
