No, all you have to do to geotag something is be in the default program 'maps' and select the option from, I believe the blackberry button. I have successfully geotagged a few locations.
Does that answer your question?
--oh, yeah, you have to have maps installed as far as I know.
A geotagging program is suppose to let you take pictures and download them along with your gps location, for example you take a road trip to a half a dozen wineries at each one you take some photos and geotag them, you at that point will have tagged photos with pinpoints on a map of where they were taken, kind like a photo album with a map ( and similar to restaraunt points on a google map ). I think in some programs they can even be time stamped with comments and from the phone can even be sent as an email attachent or downloaded to a facebook type app.
I am not sure which map that is available for the storm works best to geotag, AmAze says it does but it is not storm ready yet. I have wanted to explore it for about a month now and will most likly try and do it right before i leave on vacation and screw it up... Ha! hope that helps a little
To enable geotagging when you take a picture with the camera:
1. Open the Camera app
2. Click the blackberry button
3. Click "Options"
4. Set the "Geotagging:" line to "Enabled"
5. Select "Yes" at the prompt "Geotagging adds GPS coordinates to new photos. Are you sure you want to enable this?
6. Change whatever other options you want while you are on this screen, and then finally press the blackberry button and select "Save"
Oh and don't forget GPS must be enabled in your phone as well ;-)
