Thread: Desktop Redirector and Storm Email

I am trying to test using Desktop redirector to try an resolve an issue we have our office.

Here is the skinny: We are on Microsoft Exchange for our email. However, our blackberry devices use POP3 to get the messages. When an email comes in on exchange, Outlook on our computer sees the message. Then our Blackberry pulls the message and Outlook/Exchange marks the message as read. And we are not using BES, we are completely BIS.

We do not want to change all of our desktops to POP3 for email, but we do want to kill the reading portion. So I have a test machine that we have setup for redirector. I have setup my storm on the test machine. We have the email account setup in outlook, and redirector is running. However, redirector says running and it shows that it receives emails from outlook and forwards them onto my storm. The thing is, I never get them.

Do I need to setup an email account in BIS? I have not yet. What all steps need to be completed for redirector to work?

You don't have to setup BIS. Just set up redirector and you will be good to go. The redirector is a pin based email redirector.

Ok. Good to know I don't need to set anything up. But now I am curious why I have not gotten any messages. Will let it run over the weekend and see what happens.

Launch the redirector and make sure the device pin is showing. Also, you need to just minimize the redirector, there is an option to hide when minimized. The redirector needs to be running for it to work.

bbcrackman is right. You can just have the redirector running and what worked for me was... I was able to have Outlook closed and I still got my emails.

FYI - I forgot how long redirector needed to create the secure connection password
