Thread: Connecting to DM

I just had to do a format on my hard drive. I downloaded DM 4.7 from RIM's site and installed it. When I connect to my phone via USB cable, the computer recognized my phone, but DM doesn't. I went to options and it showed USB was selected as the way to connect, but at the bottom of DM is shows device connected: NONE. It also says Disconnected at the top left.

Any ideas?

first off i would delete 4.7 and download 5.0 then see what happens

No go. It still isn't connecting. Another thing happening that seems weird to me...

When I plug my phone in, the box pops up in windows that asks if I want to open the folder, etc. This shows that windows is detecting it. BUT....when I open the drives of my phone from my pc, it shows Device Memory and Media Card. There are no folders in Device Memory drive, and only a music folder in the Media Card drive. It shows all my music which is great, but I also have MANY pictures and videos on my phone. I cannot see those folders or files on my pc, but wen I check my phone they are still there.

The drive size of the Media Card is also showing as 5.09GB. It says 5.09 Free of 5.09. That seems weird as there is stuff on the card, plus i believe it is supposed to be 8GB right?

Any ideas?

I usually will access my media stuff through

Windows its less complicated and quicker.

I only use the dm for program loading and

Contact/calendar sync.

Ok #1 clear all the windows stuff off your
Screen. Go to dm icon and right click go to
"run as administrator" assuming you restarted computer
After dm install.

The 5mb you saw is the remaining space out

Thx Jnespa. that fixed the folder issues, but still cant connect to dm

CTRL+ALT+DEL

End the DM process...then open DM again...if that doesnt work unplug your phone, shut down computer, remove from power source, and restart. This is what I have always had to do.. Its like the DEVICE MANAGER not DM glitches

Caminator, I would suggest trying again the restart of pc, battery pull on the phone...Also, click on the guide link in my signature and down towards bottom there is a link to when DM doesn't recognize BB. Let us know if you have more questions.

Just one last question... you have device manager and desktop manager both installed right? they would both be on your pc under start>programs>blackberry>

if you haven't already, go through the guide posted above and make sure that windows isn't turning off your usb ports to save power.

I do have both desktop manager and BB Device Manager. I've tried rebooting my phone and the PC several times.

I'll go through the guide and see if that helps and report. Thanks guys.
