Then I opened the DM and opened the application loader, it showed an upgrade for BBM to 5.0, I clicked next and it installed and after the reboot it was up and running.

The icon appears in custom themes and default themes.

Note that the Program Files (x86) is for Vista, for XP it's just Program Files

I hope this helps someone get theirs figured out.

Could it be an issue with 4.5.110 vs. 4.5.0.7.7?

I'm 8330 curve from version version 4.5..0.7.7

you might need to upgrade instead of downgrade the os, and if you are brave enough to do it we can guide you trough the process

Installed twice tonight with no issues,

1st-my 9530 storm,
verizon-bbc newest hybrid w/.151
downloaded files-copied cod files only to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9530-v4.7.0.151_P4.0.0.186\Java.

DID NOT USE ALX FILE AT ALL!!!
Ran DM installed no prob!

2nd-wifes VZW Curve-8330
verizon-lyricals latest hybrd
followed same install as above w/no problems!

Oy, I will pass on that because I don't want to have compatibility issues with all the rest of my third party apps. If I can't get bbm for now, I will just wait I guess

ok so I'm new to the whole blackberry thing, and I get around on a computer pretty well....however I'm having the same issues as a few others for installing the BBM onto my Curve 8330. I have OS 4.5.0.77 and I've used DM, but I cant get BBM to install on it, and I dont have the Shared or java folder because the I never had to update the OS, so how do I get the OS on my computer in order to create those folders so I can install BBM 5.0? Thanx for any help in advance

Even after I added my avatar others with the new BBM can;t see it, I think it goes by whatever pics you add for them in your address book. At least that's how it seems to work for me. Any BBM contacts that I have in my address book with a pic, that pic shows up for them in BBM
