    Computer not finding BB Drives

Before, as soon as I plugged my BB into the USB port, the drives letters would show up on the screen and in Explorer. Now when I plug it in it the drive letters don't show up. I think it is connected because Desktop Manager
finds it ok. I want to move some pictures to my SD card but the drive letter that the computer assigns to it doesn't show up. I have Media Card Support = ON, Encryption Mode= NONE, Media Transfer Protocol= ON, Mass Storage
Support= ON, Auto Enable Mass Storage= ON. Anything not set right here?

Hey striker...Are you using the same USB port that you normally use? When was the last time you can recall seeing your drives listed? Have you changed any PC settings since the last time you accessed your drives?

Striker try switching your auto enable to prompt then rebooting your phone and plugging it back in

My first recommendation would be to battery pull. While you are in there, pull your SD card out and reinsert to reset the connection. Let your device boot then let's see what the results are. After that we made need to look in your Device Manager to check your settings on your USB ports.

    I've seem this before..

do you get that generic window's window that asks how you want to view open the mediacard?

I have to select the bottom option - open and view files on media card..or something along those lines.

If I dont select an option from this window the media card opens but unable to read the foders.

    I think its a pc setting/issue

Pulled the card and did a batt pull, no help. This is a repalcement phone but it did work when I first plugged it in when i restored everything. I haven't changed anything on my computer. It does the same thing when I plug it into my other computer. If I put the card into a reader and plug it in, I get the drive letter. This is always the same USB port. I did try another port but got the same thing. Before when I plugged it in I would get two drive letters, one for the phone and one for the card. Now I don't get any. I'm going to try my daughters cable, if it isn't that then it must be the phone, right?

do a battery pull and make sure that you are plugging your phone into the correct USB port. While the phone is resetting, plug the phone directly into the USB port and see if your computer is able to find it that way first. It has worked for me in the past.

you mentioned another cable is her phone there?.. can you swap memory cards with your daughers phone and see if it might be the card itself.

what would be lost on your card if you were to re format the card?

sounds like you have everything set correctly

How comfortable are you running your PC?
I found a link that may work for you:

Before you do this tell me what you think Striker.

I have a 16g card in there now but I have my old 8g. I put it in and it did the same thing.

I'm about to leave so I'll put this up and then will be happy to expand on it later if you're not sure how to do this. You can delete the driver on your PC for your BB and then plug it in and let the PC re-recognize it and install the driver as it did on your first connection. In other words your PC will 'forget' the device and then 'learn' it fresh when you plug in. Again, leaving now happy to expand later if you're still having trouble.

Wow, sounds like this may be the thing. What do you think could have messed this up? When you plug your phone in do you get the two different
drive letters? One for the phone and one for the card? The thing that puzzles me is that Desktop Manager can see the phone without me getting any drive letters. So, i must not be getting any mass storage connections. Does Desktop Manager use a mass storage mode?

No it connects directly whether you're in mass storage mode or not.

I think that after you installed your Hybrid that a file may have been lost in translation during your upgrade. Your enable mass mode properties are not working properly. You may try to switch them on and off a few times to see if it will jump start the mode of operation. I doubt it but it's a shot in the dark.
Options>>Memeory>>Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected>> Select to yes however, try switching this setting a few times. Change the setting then save. Change again then save. Like I said ...shot in the dark but it might jump start something.

On your PC's desktop, Right Click My Computer, select properties, then from the System Properties Window select Hardware. Now you will select Device Manager. In the menu tree look for Universal Serial Bus Controllers. select the plus to expand the tree. After all this is done post up how many ports you PC is showing you on this screen.

Disconnect you BB from the PC before doing this.
