Thread: New storm--How do I switch apps/info?

I had to get a new storm. I want to add my backed up apps , themes and other stuff to the new one. Will it pick them up when I conect or do I need to change some things around in DM

Hello fire....
You may want to try Device Switch in the Desktop Manager. When you select this function, select "Switch Blackberry Devices"...You will need to take note of your new PIN#. In the right of the screen shot, you will be given options as to which pieces of data you want to transfer.

Will that backup work with a different PIN# for the .alx file Seanren? The new device has it's own PIN# and may not recognize the .alx file/folders associated with the older device.

Yes it will MePascal the apps won't work if they are pin specific but for those that aren't pin specific they will work.

Thanks smcoldbb....I wasn't sure if that would show fire how to transfer as well. I only thought it would show fire how to backup the 3rd party apps.

Bryan, If you had pin specific apps, then would you recommend the Device Switch in the Desktop Manager?

I've done two...Saleforce devices crapped out early on and they both had app they paid for on them. I switched them...piece of cake.

What website is this? Is it the Blackberry site or is it verizon?

How about when I restore all my settings, then resend all the service books?
Would that send my new PIN# and reset everything?

i dont believe so, i transferred to another phone for a brief hour a couple days ago and resent service books and everything and BIS still had my old PIN, i had to go in and change it manually.

login and click on "change device" under setting (left hand side)

it then says:

Change the device currently associated with your BlackBerry Internet Service account. Type the new device's PIN and ESN/MEID.

and you put in the new pin and esn/meid and hit save.
