Thread: BB Messenger Problem after Restoring Backup

Hey Guys,

how are you? I think i have a problem with a backup i created.
Does the backup effect any BB Messenger settings?

I never had a problem with my messenger until a two weeks ago when installing BB Crackman's version 7. I removed it and went to Lyricidal's hybrid which i removed as well now and am running straight .148 and my messenger shows red X's next to every name i want to write to. the messages go through but it takes some time. the contacts are all available but it still shows the X and delays the messages.

My internet and everything else works fine. i have the new service books, reset the device, etc...

Is there any connection setting for BB Messenger that gets influenced when restoring a backup which i could reset?

Sometimes when the red X appears, that means that the contact is in bad reception area. Try ending, then opening conversation. I have had that happen but not to all the contacts. Lets see what others have to say about this...

Already tried that. I know for sure that the persons are available though. My friends with other BB's have no problems. Just my Storm. Lol... It only happened recently though. very strange. I'm trying straight .132 now and see if it changes anything.

All these storms react so differently to OS!!! :lame:

Ok, the straight OS don't change anything neither.

That means something must happen when i restore the backup. I will reload Lyricidal's OS now again then.

How can i completely delete Service books to install new ones?

If you truly want to delete service books you can go to options > advanced > service books and delete them from there. Then visit your carriers BIS website, login to your account, and select send service books from the menu. Not sure that's the proper solution to this problem but that is the answer to your question.

As an alternate, you can connect with DM, go to backup/restore > advanced > scroll down to service books and clear them from there.

Scroll to one of your contacts with the red x and hit menu. If 'send PIN update' is shown select that option and see if that helps.

I'm really sorry, but it apparently has nothing to do with the OS. I called our provider and they told me that they are having big problems with the BIS service. Therefore, some people are experiencing the problems i do. At least i'm a pro in installing and erasing OS now. Lol...

I had the same problem but when i sent the a message it just updated there information.

Very interesting i'm having the same issue with one of my two telus devices. Both storms. It says my contacts are "unreachable". My contacts are with a couple different providers as well. I've tried "pin"ing one or two a message with no response.

I just got a new device with a fresh OS on it so I thought it might be related to the new pin number.

I'll try using my BBM options file from an older back up file and see if that helps. Otherwise i'll call telus later this morning and see what kind of answer they give me.

only thing i would try was writing all the PIN's down then re adding them to your BBM :-) and see if that works
