Thread: Help with the Calendar...multiple accounts/sync

Here is the scenario. I have 2 calendar files on my desktop computer. Both are in a PST file format.

Calendar 1 (aka the RS calendar) is the default calendar in Outlook (so I can sync only what I want with Google Calendar). This is my band's calendar and I only put shows/concerts in this calendar.

Calendar 2 (aka personal calendar) is all my other stuff. Appointments, birthdays, etc.

Both calendars are set to sync with my storm. Every now and then, I get a hiccup, and the calendars load 2 times. Once under cwr**@****inc.com and under chris.wr**@*********band.com.

What would be PERFECT is if I could get my RS calendar to sync under chris.wr**@*********band.com and have my personal calendar sync to cwr**@****inc.com.

Right now, I have ALL appointments under both. So one way or another I am going to have to clean out my calendar and transfer both from my desktop to my storm. But I would like to get this straight if possible ahead of time and do it only once.

NOW, for the kicker....IF we can get the above to work, is it possible to use Google Sync to sync my Storm calendar OTA ONLY with the chris.wr**@*********band.com calendar?

Okay I have a suggestion or 2.
Outlook and google don't really play very nice together..
Dup events happen when you have 2 events with the same appointment time. G-Sync gets confused by this.

Or does this only happen after an is upgrade?

Vader I am not very knowledgeable on outlook but maybe this walk through I typed up on duplicate calendar entries will help?

Sorry, guess I didn't clarify where the doubles were. Google and outlook are a-ok. The issue is in the Storm.

I *believe* the last time this happened was after an upgrade to V7. If I were to look at my Outlook calendar, I would have only one of each appointment, if I look in Google now, still only one, if I look in my Storm, 2 of every. One complete set in cwr**@****inc.com and one complete set in chris.wr**@********band.com.

Example: July 3rd RS @ The District. This is in my RS Calendar. This is only once in Outlook, only once in Google, and twice in my storm. Once as cwr**@****inc.com and once as chris.wr**@*********band.com

I hope this helps explain the doubling issue.

What is your default calendar setting on your BB.

Options > advance > default settings mine is set to my gmail account.
Desktop google sync - 2 way sync doesn't work because outlook doesn't work with google multi calendar feature

This is one of the issues I had at first.

only issue is after an upgrade then?

DM advance back up remove both calendar and calendar all

Confirm calendar is totally empty and resync. Done

This drove me crazy back when we were getting leaks every week or so

Killer. that works for clearing off the dupes...lol Thanks. If I have to go back with all the appointments in one calendar, that is ok, but I was just hoping.

Here is a question. Can I set Google Calendar to sync ONLY to a specific calendar in my phone and not all of them? If so I can skip the RS calendar from desktop and let Google sync it to my phone.

Google is not an issue. I want it to only sync with one calendar. The RS calendar. I don't want my personal calendar published everywhere. My Google calendar is published to my bands website. That is why I keep them separate.

Maybe I could have replied to all of these at once...lol

But they were coming in too fast. SMC, that seems very simple. I will do that and get the calendar straight.

Now my only question is why I got a calendar in cwr**@****inc.com and one in chris.wr**@*******band.com. The band.com makes sense. it is my default calendar. But why did they go into inc.com as well?

I will say this.....on my desktop, inc.com is my "default" account. I have all 3 of these accounts (and actually a 4th that is not on my storm) on the desktop. Could that be part of the issue?

To answer your last question. I think this might help.

Every entry from outlook goes directly into google calendar attached to your gmail email one.

If you move everything out of that folder and Judy leave it for outlook sync'd

Idk. I'll have a look for an answer. Maybe on you pc play around with the google settings and default calendars

Aight. What I have done so far is to go and make sure cwr**@****inc.com is my default calendar.

THEN went and dumped my calendar as instructed.

That got me back to normal on my calendar entries.

Now I am going to tinker with Google OTA sync and see if I can get my band calendar to sync that way and sync only my personal via DM.

If it works like I think it will, this may just work. So, if all goes well, this is how it will work. A new entry in my personal calendar will sync directly with my storm when I connect to DM. All band shows will not sync via DM.

When I add a new show to the band, Outlook will sync with Google and Google will sync to my storm. That will keep the 2 separate in the storm so I can search by calendar AND I will stay fully up to date.

Wow, can we say around our elbow to get to our ass?...lol There HAS to be an easier way, but if this is what it takes, so be it.

Alrighty then....

Removed the RS calendar from DM sync. When I did that all the band dates were removed. Cool. Now it is just personal stuff in my default calendar.

Then, I downloaded and installed google sync and connected it with my account. So far so good...then fail.:31: Google sync "says" it downloaded 10 events and put them in my calendar, but I could not find them. So I am doing a batt pull one time...reboot the phone and let's see what happens now.

I think you need to make your gmail.com your default calendar. Idk how you've set up your PC settings. Last time I had any issues that corrected it.

when you add an appointment to the calendar from your BB it automatically goes to gmail.com.

I move each appointment after the fact to the correct calendar.

the problem is outlook and BB only deal in one calendar the problem develops when you add the google portion. It doesn't play nice with a single calendar application yet.

Yeah, I can't seem to get it to sync with google no matter what. I have a 3 appointments on July 4th and none of them are coming over. So scrap that idea. Back to complete sync via DM.:banghead:

It seems I can't do what I want and that bugs the hell out of me. There has to be a way to say calendar #1 from Outlook go to account A and Calendar #2 from outlook go to account B.

RIM gives you the option and ability to keep up to 10 email accounts on here and segregated, why can't they offer the same with the calendars? Or am I missing something EXTREMELY obvious?

Another question. This may help trace the data path. Does anyone know how to change the account the appointment is assigned to once it is in the storm? I see all my appointments, but they are all cwr**@****inc.com and the account is greyed out and I can't change it.
