    3rd Party back-up Question

    I've always Backed up my 3rd party apps using the device switch method but the last couple weeks i haven't been able to restore them through the app loader. I get the "this is not compatible with your device message". I believe this came about when i downloaded 5.0 dm software. Any help would be much appreciated, you could imagine how annoying it is to get all my apps back the long way, i've done it like three times. i know you gotta be some where around here bryan or jlevy.:Eyecrazy:

    Hey socalmiles,
    I've been using the 5.0 software now for a while and as luck would have it, I restored and older theme that I didn't need on my device but decided I wanted it back on my handset and the 5.0 beta did just fine....
    Let me ask you this...Have you just recently did a new backup of your 3rd party apps? If you did, can you make sure that you have a copy of the .alx file inside your the folder that has you PIN# associated with it. If the folder is only showing your apps, simply copy and paste that PIN#.alx file into that folder.

    Socal, have you tried rebooting PC? Sometimes, that fixes those errors.

    yeah last time it did it to me i tried. i had some things wrong with my pc not to long ago and recently got it repaired. Maybe some how it was corrupted. I'll redownload 5.0 in the morning and try it again. its to late tonight

    Socal, also just a thought for ya....if you have a recent 3rd party app back up on your PC, and you are trying to back up again, DM will only back up updated apps, but not every one that you have on your phone. What I do before backing up, is I rename the previous back up, send it to zipped folder and delete the original (not the zipped)... empty recycle bin and then start a fresh 3rd party app back up. Keep us posted.

    I have the same problem right now on DM v. 4.7. I tried the above suggestion, and still nothing. It really sucks because I lost my garmin mobile if I can't restore these apps...

    I am sure garmin stores your orders. Try emailing them...or did you by chance save your original download link? I am sorry to hear about that. I really wish RIM simplified this process.
