Thread: My storm finally decided to work!

so i have been having a problem with my storm, its been losing its 1XEV signal and only getting 1X. I installed v7 and i was still having problems so i just said what ever i don't even care anymore.

All of a sudden today it just started to hold my 1XEV signal. Its been a week or so since i installed v7 and just now it decides to work. I don't know if its just my storm learning the new OS or if Verizon finally fixed the problem. I haven't dropped my 1XEV all day even in school where i always used to.

I guess the point of this post is that if your having problems just hold out and it just might fix themselves lol. also i think v7 is the best so far for my storm.

Have you installed/removed anything that might have caused this?

nah i didn't do anything at all, that's why I'm just thinking it was Verizon.

yeah mine has been doing that a lot also.....now that i look at it it seems to be acting right but i have a feeling it will do it again and again and again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vstro, I also think it was VZW. Mine was holding 1EXV prior to the 5/31 VZW conversion, then for the last week I have had major data issues. The PRL that I've had since 5/31 was 40050. I reinstalled v7 last night and today when I updated the PRL, it is 30041 and 1XEV is back again. VZW started a trouble support ticket on Saturday due to the issues I've had. Today, they called me and asked how it has been working and they said that the 30041 PRL is what fixed my issues and that the 40050 PRL was created to get the conversion finished.

Do you know what your PRL was before and what it is now? I am curious to see if there is any connection between the two issues.

go to the phone dial pad and dial #4357* and send, a screen will come up and if you scroll down you will see the PRL listed.

PRL stands for Preferred Roaming Location. What I understand is the PRL tells the phone "where" to search for a signal from the towers and phones can act differently depending on which signal is received. (Anyone have a better explanation, please jump in!) too much info??? at:

It updates any new towers or updates the existing towers with any changes. Yes Crickee it also does tell it where to search. But for watkins and vstro if this keeps happening. Go into manage connections and turn off your network, pull the battery for bout 60 seconds, let the phone boot up, go back to manage connections and turn you network back on. You can pull your battery like I do or you don't have to. Wont affect anything I just have that habit Also when you update your PRL make sure to do a battery pull after Hope this helps as sometimes it can be the radio, network, or even the phone (<not likely)

Hey no problem! This is always an issue that is always in their air and can be or there cant be a def fix for this well from what i know

I keep mine on 1xev. Only need glodal for outside the US.

Set it to 1XEV, you dont need global unless you travel and it should basically try forcing the phone to use 1VEX as much as possible
