ok thx
Just throwin this out there but could it have anything to do WiFi saturation in your neighbourhood?
Actually as a former sales man lol. THe motorla branded phones(and I dont remember the tech stuff so be easy on me) have a slightly different style signal reciever than any other phone. The batteries on them die much quicker because of this but they actually seem to 'reach' for signal where other phones recieve it. you could always try updating your PRL's
I went from a Telus Motorola Razr to a Telus BlackBerry Storm and found that I get pretty much the exact same reception with both devices. Sometimes my Storm is a hint better (e.g. in the basement of my work building) while sometimes it's a hint worse (e.g. in the elevator of my condo). But generally speaking, I've found that the Storm has been pretty solid.
My suggestion? If you're with Telus, call *22803. Key in 1 for English, then 2 to update your phone's roaming lists. This will update the PRL software on the phone. The phone will confirm a successful download and then hang up on it's own after beeping 3-4 times in quick succession. I usually follow up OS updates with this and it drastically helps. This should help out!
Hello Krypto,
Nice to see you here at BBOS. Welcome in.
I've got a question that may/may not have been discussed already. With VZW, updating the PRL is completed by *22899. As far as I know, this is across the entire VZW network. The instructional that you posted, is that relative for the entire Telus network as well?
If it is, I find that very informative and would like to say thanks. Hope you continue to add to the forums here.
I just tried *22899 and received an invalid entry from the automated system then pressed 2 and my roaming capabilies were updated so looks like Krypto is right. I'm on VZW in south florida.
When in doubt, pull the battery out!
When in doubt, pull the battery out!

Hey, yeah I'll continue to lurk around here... Had lurked for a while and finally decided to join.
And yup, Telus is *22803 while Verizon is *228. I'm not sure about some of the others but it isn't hard to find the numbers for most carriers.
Note: its also a good idea to do this before leaving the country as it'll ensure your phone has the most up to date roaming lists.

No I haven't. Wasn't sure if this would cause any problems or not.
Fallen, broken. Simply dissolved into an incomplete thought.
An empty shell, cracked, and disfigured. With no remorse,
I have been blinded by the darkness. With no disdain,
I have received my punishment. And with no haste, I await them.
Tried it (the Telus number) and had a pop up on my screen saying 'Activation is Unsuccessful'

Hello acme.
Sorry to hear that. Let me see what I can get for you on those PRL update numbers for you. If I can't find them I'm sure we'll find it. Just had a thought. Have you called your carrier and asked someone in the tech support group for a number that will update your PRL. That may be a good start.
Hang tight.
I haven't tried going thru my carrier yet. I thought there might be an OTA option but the more I read, it appears to me that it is not available thru Bell.
If I am wrong I'd appreciate knowing how to do it.
