I have been visiting these threads for a while now and a couple of thoughts have just crossed my mind. Where do the branding/statup screens reside? Can this be customised? If I want to remove Vodafone Live and if so how? Vodafone live must be the most inappropriate software on the Storm, in fact on all the phones I`ve had. On other units I could flash alternative sofware and get rid of all branding. Is this possible?
I have loaded / reloaded....wiped and re wiped my storm since the launch date and the carrier splash screen is always there. Even with all of the hybrids and shrinks and even the theme building I've done, I've never seen the option to get rid of it or remove / change it.
As for the Vodafone live, I'm not too familiar with that software. What does it do?
Vodafone live is essentially a browser specific to Vodafone to give access to various sites offering junk for sale icluding the normal ringtones, wallpapers, games etc etc. A waste of time. A revenue generating gimmic to attract suckers!Quote:

Olta is right, on the branding explanation, but this can be modified, is firmware modification, you can do it using the MFImultiloader (no answer if you ask here), the process require a couple of steps and a some others files, and of course you need to know your vendor id, and the vendor id wich you want to brand to, you can also brand to a RIM splash screen, to have personalized screen the process is to hard and software to do that is very limited, and also you can revert the process to brand to your original carrier if needed, as for the vodafone live, you can hide the icon at least.

I`ve been watching your dilemma through the thread for some while now and it would appear that Vodafone Malta have managed to lock your original Os radio to your handset. I just ca`nt imagine how but the net result would appear to be that you are stuck with that patrticular radio. Could be a very specific frequency that is used in Malta? Have you asked the carrier about Os upgrades or our you in a similar situation to us in South Africa where the carrier only sells the handsets that are functional?
