Thread: BBM contact unreachable?

I am hoping that someone can help me solve a BB Messenger problem. Wife and I both have Storms. We are both running .148. Today, Her BB Messenger says I'm unreachable. Mine says She is unreachable. We are standing right next to each other...
I can communicate with other contacts... Anyone ever run into something like this? Is there a way to change that unreachable status????

i got that status when i am in a not signal area

Thanks for the welcome. We are at home standing next to each other and we have full signals... Does the status update itself somehow or is there a way to force it to update? Short of turning off and back on....

Have you tried re booting your phone and seeing if that changes that status? I have found my BBM status "stuck" on more then one occasion and had to reboot to correct it.

I have seen this from time to time and try to send anyway and often viola, they're now reachable.

I also find that it un-sticks the unreachable status when I send the message anyway

I was hoping for a way to "force" the status to change without rebooting the phones... it seems odd that i can message with other contacts. I have tried to send repeated messages, but have not had any success...

On her phone, her status shows available...on mine she is unreachable...

On my phone, I'm available... on her's I'm unreachable...

try ending the conversation, and then reopen it

Upon further review.... the wife's storm is stuck on 1xev... NO DATA !!!!

Mine did that very thing a couple of days ago. Turning off the radio and back on resolved the data issue. Prior to .148, I never had this data issue before....

Depends on your area and what towers you are getting the ev roam from....trust me on this one... I wish I could make this very clear but even some towers that are 'VZW' are really not, some of them will get you wap but not BIS or BES...i have that in the area I live in.. I get 1x at my house but still get push e-mail and all data services. Painstakingly slow but there...soon to be fixed :31:

Same issue with me & my gf's BB. We just send msgs anyways, regardless of what the status says, & it always goes through just fine. I wouldn't worry about it. Next time that happens, just try sending a message anyway, & I'd be willing to bet the message will go through. Good luck!

unavailable could also mean they're on a call if they're on a CDMA device. no voice and data at the same time. once they hang up they'll get the messages all flooding in at once, emails, BBM and any other data based stuff.

I get messages all the time when I'm on the phone, SMS, MMS, BBM, email. Sometimes I'll tell my gf to hold on while I check a msg when I hear the "beep" while I'm on the phone. I'm on VZW (CDMA)

you can't do voice and data simultaneously, but you can get sms since it travels on the voice channel. so if you're getting bbm, mms and email on your device you're on some super network. like GSM or LTE or something.

are you with VZW or are you unlocked?

You were having problems with BBM because RIM had a data outage all over North East American today.

I used to get that, but for some reason in the past month or so, it has stopped.

Patches is correct. The CDMA channel will carry nothing but SMS services while on a call (and it will beep at you to let you know). Once you hang up, all data reliant services (BBM, e-mail, etc) will update. Can't wait for LTE to light up on VZW and the 4G "storm" whatever that might be so that we can have simultaneous data/voice. Of course... There are the CDMA technology advantages in other areas...
