Thread: Flick Scrolling

I downloaded the AP News App on my 9530 which is pretty cool, but I noticed that the app has "flick scrolling" as you go thru the news articles.
I didn't realize that was possible on the Storm...Could all apps be written with this feature? I thought it was specific to the operating system or a hardware issue.

Yeah accelodex has flick as well not sure if any others out there have it or not.

File manager pro does too. I bet storm is capable of it, they probably are working on stability first.

It would be nice if one day we get flick scrolling on our storms.

Yes it would. They added animation to popup menu's in 151, so who's to say that it's not already in the newer builds. Only time will tell. lol

beejive has a pretty decent flick scrollin feature too.. if only some1 could make one that could embed itself into all the phones software... like orientation lock works in nearly everythin... that person will make @ lot of money.. it would prolly be a better seller than Quick launch .. lol sigh... ~as i continue to dream for the perfect storm...~

Yep noticed on poynt it also has flick scrolling, wish i could do that with my pictures, and about the only feature i like on the Itoy is the touch and spread with 2 fingers to make pics enlarge, that is a pretty cool feature.

It is a capability of the device, however the current os as it is will not allow for it. Remember that ths OS is not originally designed for touchscreen applications. The current 5 series which is built for touscreen may incorporate it at sometime but not as of yet as far as I know.

sigh.. hopefully things will a come together sooner than later.. i mean this is the yr for change.. and there was a blue moon on sunday when verizon actually released mr2.. but knowin them.. by the time theres an official release with flick scrollin.. they will b on the storm 3, the iphone will b on verizon and will be capable of makin popcorn and salsa on command.. :lol:

Is this Free??? It says in the user agreement that it is a subscription but I do not see anything related to fees (prices)???

I didn't pay anything, but I can't remember if I downloaded it from my BB browser or their website. Give it a try on your storm browser and go all the way to the bottom if I remember right.

When I had it installed months ago it was free not sure if anything has changed.

I thought I read something in a review of the pre that Apple had a patent on flickscrolling and they thought the pre violated the patent. Could Rim be waiting for someone else to test the waters?

i found these articles.. and part of me wants to punch steve jobs.. lol naw but figured id share.. they are assentially the same thing bout a touch patent for mobile devices.. "flickin" bein part of it.. share ur thoughts

yea.. but the idea of puttin a patent on a movement is wild.. imagine if a football player patented a 3 point stance, or a baseball player did that to his batting stance.
i have to believe that rim has it in their bag of tricks, but its waitin to see wuts gonna happen wit the pre and other devices that have it too.. or maybe rim is just oblivious to life .. lol who knows right..

I think apple is afraid to let go cause they know there's serious competition around
