Thread: Email setting to keep past emails?

Not sure if anyone followed my thread labled "battery issues after upgrading". But I think I have everything good but something different happened from all the other times I upgraded. I am getting e-mails but I cant see any other past e-mails. Is there a setting I have messed up.

Did you do a back up prior to switching your radio files? That should have backed up that data base and you can restore from there. What is different is when you swap out files there is not a backup that is completed, when you do a total OS load the backup happens automatically, most of the time.

It asked if I wanted to automaticly back up and I said yes. So I guess I did, where can I look

To set the time on how long emails are kept open your messages folder/bb button/options/general settings and scroll all the way to the bottom and you can set how many days messages are kept.

I got that part it is set for 15 days but in my inbox on the server i have more than 15 days but not showing on my berry

If you did not save previous messages in a backup then it will not pull existing messages from the server to your device. It will only pull new messages.

If your the only user check the downloads folder for temp files, it may have put a backup there. You can also search your computer for .alx files and see if a temp backup comes up in the search. Make sure you search for hidden files and folders.

nope

XP then? Try going to my computer and click on c: drive. On the left hand side it should give the option to search for files and folders. Search for any .alx files that were created today. They may be a choice for advanced search and select to include any hidden files, sorry I'm on a Vista machine right now or I would send some screen shots.

If you are searching for a backup file, usually the default is in "My Documents" and it will be labled Backup or LoaderBackup and a file extension of IPD. If you just want to search and see if it is somewhere else on you PC then as Rellims suggested use the search function and search for .ipd with todays date or the last date there was a backup made.

Small correction, search for a file named with today's date.ipd that should be you back up file.
Ex: 05312009.ipd
