Thread: VZW 3G question

i'm in a vzw 3g area(not far from dwntwn Phx), but have never seen 3g logo on my 9530. whether settings are set to global or 1XEV, all i pickup is 1XEV. is this normal? has anyone on vzw got a 3g symbol?

As long as your are using the Verizon network you cannot set it to read 3G, but 1XEV (all caps) is the Verizon 3G network. 3g simply stands for 3rd generation network.

You know why so many people are confused is because those Verizon commercials state 3G speeds/Network, then you look at your phone and it says 1XEV.

I have seen some trick out there that lets you change your display from showing 1XEV to 3G. It is just cosmetic though for people who lik eto mess with their friends.

When I got my storm, I saw 1XEV and was expecting to see the 3G symbol. I called the VZW customer service and the guy actually had to put me on hold to find out why I was not getting a 3G and was getting 1XEV. They are oh so smart. ha
