is up to you with media and without media manager just make a diff in the size of the file...

For what its worth, I attempted to update my OS 5.0 with BBC's 5.1 with .132. When backing up 3rd party apps, I found the folder with pin #, and saved it. I then did my thing and wiped the phone, and then installed the new update. Then I reduced the os with Lyric's utility and went to install my 3rd party apps. The DM said no additional apps are found or needed. I then went app loader and it didn't see my apps either. I then had to manually re-install all my other apps and serial registration #s. I have since removed DM 5.0 and went to 4.7..Haven't ad an problems with it..I suggest not using 5.0..Others have said 4.78 is buggy; anyone know what they are?

I don't know....DM 5.0 works fine on my end here....

To moedaddy: If you install with the media manager, it will take more time to open up and will run slower (personal observation)

Also to all having trouble with 3rd party apps back up: Make sure to search hidden and system folders. If you already did a back up recently, I would suggest renaming that back up and sending to .zip folder, otherwise, DM will only find updated apps and will not back all of them up. Good luck

Thanks Olta777, I did have an old copy of my pin folder around. Will erase all and save my 3rd party apps again.

No problem. I used to have this same problem and couldn't figure it out for the life of me until good people helped me. Good luck and ask away

deleted 5.0, loaded 4.6. when it was done, didn't see phone, deleted it and went to 4.5. loaded with scale till the end, then it said wait a few minutes to install. hour later and nothing. it didn't do anything. deleted it too. now have no dm loaded on laptop. any ideas?????? had no problems with 5.0 except that when backing up 3rd party apps, it said it did but could not find them.

Have you tried DM 4.7?

no,someone said it was buggy but i guess i can try that next.

It is a little buggy at times but since you have not had luck with the other DM's may want to give it a shot.

In the end, if others fail, I would try 5.0 again...If you backed up 3rd party apps before and are trying to do it again, DM will only back up new ones, not all...Also, did you search hidden files and system folders?

did a normal search on windows xp-pro. is there another way to search hidden files??? edit--- where can i find 5.0 again????

I'm not looking at my PC right now but there should be an advanced search tab. There you should tick the boxes next to search hidden folders etc.

thanks all for the help last night. reloaded dm 5.0. now is working right. see's phone, can backup 3rd party apps, and i can find them under search. i'm good to go again.
