Thread: JLCmdr won't run on Vista Laptop

When I try to run JlCmdr on my Vista laptop a window flashes by my screen
but doesn't stay up. It goes so fast I can't even see what it is. Anyone know how i can get it to run properly? Thanks,

I have the same prob. CrackUtil should work I believe. I have JL on my XP laptop but do everything else from my Vista x64 laptop. Hope this helps!

I had the same problem, this is from shaffer on another forum.

jl_cmder and vista64 bit users READ!
Okay, myself like all of you who are trying to use jl_cmder and vista 64 bit may run into issues with CHOICE.EXE saying something about 16bit no supported and what not.

I have a 32bit version (which works with a 64 bit OS) which i will attach for all of you. Simply delete the 16bit version out of the directory and replace it with the 32 bit found on this thread, run jl_cmder and voila! No error.

I have confirmed this works, as I just did it successfully on mine. Do not run jl_cmder as admin, set compatibility to xp sp2 and it should work.

Here is the new version: RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

HOW TO:

1. Download jl_cmder from JL_Cmder Javaloader Utility Non Installer
2. Extract contents
3. Download MY version
4. Replace CHOICE with the my version of the file.
5. Right click JL_Cmder.cmd and choose properties
6. Click compatibility tab and check Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
7. Click OK
8. Run JL_Cmder.cmd

How does one change the extention? Cant figure it out!!! HELP!!

I had the same problem until I right clicked and set to run as admin

right click and select rename

Where?? If I right click it gives run as admin...and it opens a DOS window with a (Y/N)?....Then what??

Shane: I need to rename the extention....

just curious, why are you not supposed to run jl as admin

Vic, give me a few and I will reload this myself again. Hard to remember what I did.

I'm not running Vista 64. Im running the 32 bit version.

Striker951, I have 32 also, and this was the only way I got it to work. I didn't have to do 6-8 though.

Vic, My appologies, they must have updated JL_Cmder Javaloader Utility, because step 4 doesn't work. All I did was delete the original choice file, then replaced it with the other one you downloaded. You do not have to rename anything. And because they are 2 different extensions, you can't overwrite. Just delete and replace and your good to go. Beiing x64, you need to also do steps 6-8. Let me know how it goes.

When I first started modding my BB, I tried to use jl_cmdr to wipe, but because of vista, I could never get it to work. Ended up using Crackmen to do it. You might want to give that a try in addition to jl_cmdr. It has a more friendly interface.
