Wats the Big Dif? 9500/9530/9520/9550

1) I have a 9530 and of late it seems every other storm is getting updated but the 9530, seriously wats the worse that could happen if one attempts to load say the 9500's .451 onto a 9530. Unless im wrong the only difference between the 2 is that the 9530 has cdma+gsm radio while 9500 is only gsm.
Also 9550 only has wifi that 9530 does not so y the incompatability they should be basically the same device, from a hardware point of veiw rite?

2) whats the difference between the OS version say 5.0.0.419 and the platform numbers 4.2.0.179?
Why arent they the same nor increase together?:confused:

Don't feel bad the 9550's haven't got anything since a .428 leak forever ago. You can't load an os that's for the 9500 if you have a 9530 and if you manage to do it i wouldn't be surprised if you brick your phone. Believe me if you could I would have loaded up the new 9520 OS a week ago

I have noticed there are a few hybrids out there that share the same files, but are installed over a compatible "base" OS originally built for your device.
I think, (correct me if I'm wrong) that most of the java files are similar and are interchangeable to a degree, and that's how we're getting hybrids. It would be safe to assume, in that case, that it is the "base" OS that is different in the OP, and not the rest of the content.

well the differences between the first generation (9530/9500) and second (9550/9520) are bigger than the differences between the phones within each generation. the hardware is very different, most notably the wifi module and screen design, so parts of the os are incompatible. hybrids are your best bet, as bugly said, combining the few parts that are compatible across platforms with those that are device-specific for the best results. simply installing the wrong release will probably brick your phone.

I get that they r different. But rite now I'm running a hybrid that includes wifi modules in the java folder but 9530 can't use em so they do nothing. So y can't the cdma folder operate the same?
