Well, it has a little (or a lot) to do with the amount of current available thru the USB port from some (many) computers. Beyond that, it's too techy for this forum but I DO think the tutorial needs a little update to indicate the battery likely needs to be put back in somewhere along the way. Thrilled you worked it out! Which OS did you ultimately put on his device? Oh, and by the way, either his charger has gone bad or his battery may have seen it useful life come to an end. Suggest he purchase a fresh one.![]()

Yes. I'm not sure if it was my battery that did the trick or if I just needed to put the battery back in at some point but I put his battery in mine during the install and it booted my bb up alright.
I installed 5.0 with .419 so he is fully up to date now. and I will definitely be telling him to get himself a new battery! If that doesn't fix his power leakage he probably needs a new charger too!
