Thread: Speaker sounds terrible

Any of the alerts, ringtones, or music that is played from my Storm sounds terrible all distored. I thought it was the OS so I went back to .328 from VZW website and it still sound terrible. Any suggestions?

this sounds stupid but some of the higher 5.0 OS is very loud.. try going into your profile setting and lowering the sound level.. if that doesnt fix it you may have a failing speaker.

Thats what I was thinking also, the sound is bad even on the medium profile.

have you tried changing the entries in
media/music then options via BB key? e.g. headset equalizer settings?

I just tried setting the equalizer to OFF and audio boost to OFF. Same thing still sounds bad. :crazy:

Maybe I damaged the speaker by using some of the OS's that have the loud sounding sounds.

One suggestion: Try your headphones. If all sounds okay (for example, your music) it's most likely a blown speaker.

Great Idea, why didn't I think of that. Yes through the headphones everything is fine. Guess I have a dead speaker. Now I wonder if VZW will give me a Storm2?
