I'm thinking about buying one of those mini laptops that have recently come out. I think I read somewhere there is a way that I can use the Storm to gain internet access with a laptop (using it like a modem maybe) - can anyone enlighten me?????

Yup you can tether your BlackBerry which uses it as the modem on-the-go or if you need Internet. Although I have not done it, I have read good reviews on this app TetherBerry | The Web Anywhere and here is some reviews from its thread at CB TetherBerry - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com
I use the service from Verizon (15 bucks/mo. on top of BES)
In 3G areas, I can pull 1.6Mbps download speeds. Not bad at all IMHO!
..if it is a linux based netbook you will need a free program called Barry; I'm not sure if tethering for the storm is supported yet though (older models are).
I compiled it for sync / backup on a linux desktop a few months back, but rumor at the time was that tethering wasn't supported for the storm yet.. I didn't try it (and still haven't).
..sync, backup, etc all works well on linux though!
works great for me, really fast connection. still need to check with my verizon to see if there is a charge.

TetherBerry i heard works well but if u are using allot of data they may slap you with a huge bill. Someone on another forum used it and ended up with a $4,000 bill or so i belive just a heads up.
If you want something a little cheaper you could try pdanet from JuneFabrics. I don't use it a whole lot but it was only $29.
I used it a lot back with my old Motorola Q. Thank GOD I don't have to use that phone anymore!fftopic:
