How come I can't send an email to someone who is not in my contacts? When I try, the send button doesn't work and "send" does not appear in the menu.
Are you still on a storm 1 and what os are you using.
I am on storm 2 with .428.
I am on a Storm with Lyricidal's .328/.405

Are either of you on BES. I have storm 2 on 5.0.0.428 and can send emails fine whether in or not in my contact list
I discovered this issue a few weeks back. In order to enable the Send button, either hit Return/Enter after inputting the address or click on the pop-up text once you're done typing. If you move the cursor to another field without doing one of those two things, Send will remain disabled. If you've already moved on, just go back to the To: field and hit Return/Enter and the button will un-grey.

I was having the same issue with my storm 1 as well, and just learned to live with it, and added a new contact when needed. Was browsing the BBOS forums one day and came across a thread, (sorry, cannot remember now) about someone else having a similar issue. They returned the phone for a new one.
Curious, I called Bell data line and explained the problem and was told this was a hardware issue and not related to the os in any way. Delving further with this very rare and helpful tech at Bell, we discovered the storm I had was a replacement for a stolen one, and was a rebuild. Seems this issue is rampant with the rebuilds. When discussing with your carrier, request a NEW replacement phone, as this is your right if you have the extended warranty / insurance.
after u type the email in hit enter as if you were adding another recipient. had that problem but quickly foind that this would work to enable the send buttons.
