    Here are the detailed instructions for installing the desktop manager
    Downloading and installing BlackBerry Desktop Manager

    It may be necessary to uninstall the current version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager first. Please refer to Perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software for assistance. Administrator privileges may be required to perform the uninstall. Consult the IT Administrator for assistance.
    Close any open applications.
    Open an Internet browser and navigate to the BlackBerry Software Download website.
    Click Desktop Software.

    Enter the 10-digit mobile number then click Download Now.

    Click Save.
    The BlackBerry desktop filename may differ, depending on the current software version.

    Select a location then click Save.
    For the purposes of these directions, Desktop is the location selected.

    Double-click the downloaded file.
    The BlackBerry desktop filename may differ, depending on the current software version.
    If prompted, click Continue.

    Select the desired language then click OK.

    Click Next.

    Select the desired country or region then click Next.

    To continue the installation, read and select I accept the terms in the license agreement then click Next.

    Enter the appropriate information then click Next.

    Choose the desired destination folder then click Next.

    Click Next.

    Select the desired integration option then click Next.
    BlackBerry Internet Service
    BlackBerry Enterprise Server or Desktop Redirector




    BlackBerry Internet Service

    Select Integrate with a personal email account then click Next.

    Select the desired shortcut installation options then click Install.
    If prompted, click Continue.

    Click Finish.

    For assistance setting up a BlackBerry Internet Service account please refer to Configuring email services - BlackBerry Internet Service

    By the way, how did this work. I have been meaning to try 5.0 DM but have been upgrading my OS's too fast to give this a shot.

    I love it. I find it to Back and restore much faster than 4.7. No bugs yet (Knock on wood). I have been using it for 2 days. I uses it daily to back up. App loader works great. New status progress meter I didn't have before. No major changes just smoother.

    It was easy and took little time. fyi, I did delete the 4.7 DM after to make sure they didnt screw each other up.

    Sounds like he doesn't have any drivers installed for windows to talk to the "fone"

    Windows will assign drivers for things if it doesn't know what to do....

    ok i got it all installed thanks guys....but i havent realized any difference on my fone....how can i kno whether ive got the .114 hybrid or not?

    On the about screen in options it should say version .114 and Platform # .144
