I have shrunk my os and removed BBMaps.
How can I DM to stop asking to load BB Maps and other updates?
It only happens on first sync after a restart of DM.
TIA!

I have a similar problem since upgrading to Storm2 and even on my Storm1 v.328. Every time I start DM it tells me I need to update my 5.0.0 core applications. I spent altogether about 6-7 hours on the phone with Verizon and RIM tech support over the last few days and still no solution. RIM tech support is supposed to be working on it for me and will get back to me within 48 hrs. They say it seems to be a problem with their web based updating program.
Try renaming the OS folder. Put like the letter A before it.
Which OS folder?? You lost me there.
In C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion
i shrunk and removed some sample pics and videos. and the next time DM ran it put them back on. the files were not in the Java folder for it to get put back in. musta been from the web. if i look in DM under update software I have 2 5.0's. one says local installation other just gives 50. info. you could also if it gets to be enough of a pain, is to add Dm to your firewall and block it. I should since all of my updates have been from an .exe.
This is pretty annoying. After I shrink the OS and remove the all the garbage (such as the setup wizard) load the OS and go to load my apps it won't let me load the apps without reinstalling the core updates which puts the garbage back on my phone. It easily adds 10MB of unnecessary crap onto my phone!
I've tried renaming the folder the OS is is and completely deleting it before I run DM. Any other ideas?
the problem would be that .328 is an offical release so DM sees it everytime whether you have it installed or not so if you shrank its going to want to reinstall
If that's the case that blows! We need a leak for the S2 so I can really shrink this baby!
I get that too and its annoying but I just click cancel. I believe if you turn pc internet connections off then it wouldn't prompt for update.

I avoid that by loading my apps at same time I load my OS. I have tried both ways and have not seen any differences. Unless I run into issues or trying to figure out an issue, then I load separately. Saves me time and hassle. I wish dm would not even attempt looking for an update, but I doubt its possible yet.![]()

for some strange reason I didn't have that option when I loaded the OS on my S2
ahhh OK sweet!
