Thread: Storm 2 Touch Screen Issues?

Is anyone having issues with the Storm 2 touch screen? At various times, my touch screen doesn't appear to "click" in the bottom right-hand corner on the end call button. I read that the piezo electronic technology doesn't engage sometimes if the device is locked but my device hasn't been locked.

Nope. I did however notice that the space that you can click the bottom four buttons is relatively small. What I mean is there is a gap between where they start and where the screen ends. So if you try to press in this "no mans land" nothing happens. Kinda cool but just takes some getting used to.

There are times when it seems like the screen locks for a moment when the phone is "thinking" / processing. But, as Bboyeruga correctly noted, the actual sensor area under the four bottom buttons is not that large, and I suspect that I'm in fact occasionally pressing out of the sensor area with my large thumbs.

Yes i am having issues with my screen. Its non responsive at times BUT its not locked. IDK can't win for losing!

I'm having the same problem as well but mine is not limited to the corners of the screen... Every now and then I can't select anything on the screen including menu buttons. Extremely frustrating especially after coming from S1 and not having this problem... Trying not to allow the frustration turn into regret.

Had a defective screen so I received a replacement and all is good now.

I have gone through 3 devices because of this issue with the device not responding in the lower corners.
My resolution was to have the csr's bring several devices out for me to test until I was satisfied with the one I liked.
I know it sounds like a lot but I needed to be content with my device and VZW was happy to oblige with my request.

This is absolutely the only way to do it!!! :haha: S1 was also the same procedure!!! :Eyecrazy:

I have gone through 3 S2's and each have had one screen issue after another. typically one of the corners was completely dead. I love the Storm but this stuff gets old fast.

Honestly, I've noticed this with the Storm 2, Droid, and Eris. Those "buttons" on the bottom doesn't always respond, it's quite annoying.

Good to see that I'm not the only one with this problem...my "call" button has this issue.

I'm playing with mine right now and I don't see or feel any problems with the screen. All my corners work and function properly. No complaints over here...

I'm having this issue as well. Im going to call verizon after work because my screen wont click at all unless a do a battery pull.

Yes, I am also having a sporadic problem with the touble the bottom right keys. However, I am having the problem with the Escape key (to the left of the End key). Sometimes I do not get the click and sometimes I may not even get a response when pressed. I'm thinking of dropping by a Verizon store to see if there's any technical note on this.

I have same problem here and think to go with DROID.

I am getting a replacement tomorrow and so went the whole hog and completely wiped my phone and re-installed the OS.

Guess what? The problem of the locked keys was gone after that. It would appear that the issue may lie with a process monopolising the CPU long enough for there to be a delay in the unlock response time.

Try and get a Canada device, they seem to have less problems.

Wow, I never had as severe as issues with the s1 or s2 as you guys are posting. I must be lucky i guess . I've also noticed that the screen ONLY responds to fingers. This girl in my class was playing around with it and couldn't click it sometimes and then i noticed she had long fingernails. As a guy, this is never a problem, but the device can tell the slight difference between when a majority of your nail is pressing and when your actual digit is pressing.

Yeah thats something I noticed and didn't care for about the S2's but if you just press a bit higher on the buttons on the bottom they work a lot better....Kinda something I figured they would perfect better...
