omg this explains why the test unit in the verizon store was grey...i wanted to ask about it but since i wasnt buying the phone that day i didnt care lol.

i dont like how the droid looks either...looks boxy...like an old design cell phone...android is cool and all but its pointless for me to get any android phone unless it has push email. getting an email 15 minutes late could be lost money! i want to know what the verizon htc android is going to do.

You also need to make sure that instead of internet browser it is set to hotspot browser. I have never had any issues with it working at all. Mine goes to with the wifi when im connected and grey when it is not. BBM, internet and emails will work through wifi. Text messages will not being the go through the verizon wireless network not the internet.

Nothing against anyone but we have the Android - forum now for the benefit of everyone having trouble with wifi on the S2 can we please keep this on topic

Are you on the BIS or BES?

the 29.99 data plan. I also have not sent service books either.

and you are sending and receiving emails for sure?

100% postive i turned off my mobile network just to make sure and the wifi was white and sent out 3 emails and 2 BBM messages. all that was active was my wifi. it went to grey when i got out of range of the wifi.

hmm I wonder why we are seeing differences

go to options, advanced and go to browser and set it to hotspot browser and then save then back to main screen and turn off radio and connect to wifi and see what happens. try sending me something if you want.

I'm on BIS, and using WiFi (VZW network turned off), I can surf the web and send email, but texting (I do not use BBM) is a no-go--shows "mobile equipment status failed" error. But, not really understanding all the network stuff, this seems to make sense as the text messages would go thru the VZW network, not my (in this instance) home wireless network...I think.

I've re-sent service books from the BIS webpage.

Thats just Verizon! They have a habit of charging for everything. Just 1 way for them to get everyone to the higher data plan. This is why I am no longer with them.

That is because text messages are not sent through data they are sent through the vzw mobile network.

thats what we are saying though you dont need the higher data plan you just need everything configured right.

I have not had any issues either, emails went back and forth, and BBM worked fine, and disconnected the mobile network to be sure. Feel bad for the people having problems. Not to mention I didn't have to "configure" anything. It just works.
