I can't even begin to explain what this may be.
I'm going to go with some sort of app store. :dunno:

after some reading it seems like the rogers wap is the browser u would use with a rogers data plan rather than a rogers bb plan- maybe you can get a storm 2 with data only saving some money, however u would lose push email and bbm; ie the things that make it a blackberry
Well I was way off on that bdube. Rogers Mall may be their new browser depiction.
haha nope, i was way off...i didnt catch the mall half of the icon-

maybe it uses the wap browser to connect to this?
-edit
rogers mall is rogers app store. while it usually has a cart as its icon, it often changes to the wap icon as a result of trying to unbrand it

Its just a shortcut that uses the WAP browser to connect to the Rogers "Mall" like you said earlier -- It connects to the section where you can dload ringtones, wallpaper and stuff like that through Rogers---standard data charges apply. I know this cause I have T-Mobile on my storm and I get a similar icon. I actually hide the icon --- when I click on it , it uses the WAP browser -- the layout has items like ringtones, wallpaper, news, top stories...its like a browser within a browser through t mobile. its useless to me and I am sure Rogers users will feel the same way, haha ---

So I guess the real question would be why a Verizon device has an icon for a Rogers Wireless service..... Otherwise, it sounds like Rogers' version of VCast.

The Storm 2 is also a world phone---I can assume that the phone was probably unlocked for Rogers. Just like my Storm on T-Mobile, I have the same type of Icon but it says T-Mobile of course. Indeed, it is something like a VCast -- the icon just appears on first boot --- the provider sends a service book.

It's the Rogers WAP browser, like AT&T medianet, T-Mobile Web2go...delete the service book and it goes away. If their is no service book, it just means it's hard coded to the device like any other. Simple explanation, especially for anyone who has used an unlocked device on a different carrier.
My T-Mobile 8520 has a Rogers icon on it, as it's be used on Rogers and T-Mobile.
My AT&T 8900 has a Rogers icon on it, as it's be used on Rogers and AT&T.
My Verizon Storm has a Rogers icon on it, as it's be used on Rogers and Verizon.
Sals ODIN "Touched" the Rogers network at some point in time to get the service book. That's really all I can say about it.

Also you can check your service book. I unlocked a friend of mine storm and placed it on Att service. I had to get the att/cingular blackberry service books to make the internet work and what you get is the att browser icons. Im guessing the storm 2 might have some of the old service book still loaded on phone.
pretty sure its the service books. Maybe he should try deleting all of them resending and see what happens
I can't beleive this thread got past 1 reply....hahah
its just the WAP browser...calm down ppl
WHoever loaded that odin...used the rogers build on a verizon branded odin...thats why you see VZW apps and Rogers apps...
Here is what the icon really is Heath T my buddy that works for VZW. told me that its a wap email icon. Its on some of the other Verizon dummy phones. it takes you to a Verizon page that allows you to log in to several online email clients, that don't support pop email and cant be pushed to your BB.
