3G is just a generic terminology, EV-DO is Verizon's 3G network. The 3G icon is likely a response to the widespread incorrect notion that 1XEV is in some way "not" 3G.

I've always thought that 1XEV was a confusing term from a consumer point of view. Partly because any commercial says the carrier has 3G. So it's not painfully obvious what 1XEV is.

I agree. Dave hit it head on. Smart move changing it to 3G IMO:haha:

but wasnt the idea to begin makin the 5.0 os' to make things simplier to cross over between devices.. and have them in the same/language?.. but i do understand that they are different 2..

I just saw the commercial. That phone is not the Storm 2. It's just a shiney Storm

it does in fact have WiFi and it is scheduled to be released in Jan 2010...so I'm told by a VZW employee

The rumors that have been flying around have been a Sept release for B2B and an Oct release for consumers. I have not seen any rumors pushing it to next year.

Even my painfully slow source told me end of Oct early Nov release.

How about call quality of the new 2? Will it improve, status quo, or diminish? What did you say?
