Thread: Storm 2 In Action - Video

Thanks to Kevin at Crackberry for the First hands on video with the Storm 2.

So far it seems like the storm 2 has a few bugs in the software much like the storm 1, but then again this is pre-production. Hopefully the kinks will be worked out before production this time.

Besides the usual here is what I noticed in the video.

O.S. Version is 5.1.0.9
Memory - With nothing loaded on the storm out of the box showing 143.9 MB of memory - so big improvement there.

I am sooo looking forward to this phone, for the memory alone.

And last but not least, THIS DEVICE WILL BE GETTING WIFI according to Kevin.

This is, I repeat, This is a pre-production model. Specifications are not finalized.

Ya. Not gonna lie. I kinda like the Storm 2.

Droooooooool, contract or not I will have one although I might wait a week or so to see what kinks if any exist.

Ya I thought the wifi might be your ticket in. I've heard both wifi and EVDO. But again that was told to me by someone who may or may not know finalized plans.

Was the acceleramator in need of a good shakin'?

This O.B.D. is getting expensive.. Do we get a discount or coupons for the devices if we go to the meetings?

I will be getting one of these, I just hope the current storm themes will play nice with it??

Perhaps Im missing somehting but why wouldn't RIM make the full on board memory available for apps...is this an OS limitation? The extra app memory is nice, but it seems like a relatively minor jump going to a gig or two (or 8, 16, you get the idea)

It is part of he security package on Blackberries, there is more danger when allowing programs to access the memory where the OS resides.

Great video however I am not as impressed as I thought I would be. I must say that going to the Tour was really an eye opening experience in terms of using a physical keyboard full time. Don't get me wrong, the Storm is a great device but I just find the Tour does everything that Storm does but better and with more stability. The days of memory leak, reboots, business cards, OS instability are gone. I can't tell you what a relief that is. Being a 2nd generation product I'm sure they made improvement but a physical keyboard is really what RIM knows and does best.

Almost anything... with the tour you still have to do the tape trick to get the battery cover not to move:bigeyes:

I was one of the lucky few I guess but my battery cover fits on perfectly with no movement.

My biggest concern is that RIM gets their QC in order, I don't want to go through 5 Storm2s.
