Does anyone one know if Storm 2's screen supports multi-touch? Is the processor gonna be the same? Why is the bold/onyx the only BB's being produced with a faster processor and not the one that probably needs it more, handling more media?

Yeah thanks for clearing that up E. We all know that RIM never has just one version of an upcoming device. There's always a few different versions of that one device. So I can understand where you say it could just be different.
I cannot address the first part of your question but with respect to the processor, CDMA phones are limited to qualcomm's chipset which is slower than the ones available for GSM units. So the Bold is able to take advantage of that while VZW has to use a much more limited range of CPU's.

Just got confirmation its the 9550. Will know more tomorrow...

This what I know so far, 9550 for CDMA (VZ, Tellus) and 9520 for GSM (Rogers and ATT) probably
Does anyone else here the James Bond theme song playing in their head right now? :lmao:
Thanks E and Aucsh for keeping us up to date :fing02:

No problem Bryan. :)
Ps: someone please say its not 9550 I wanna laugh. :lmao:
more news.
Early morning reports today from Boy Genius are stating the Storm2 has been pegged the BlackBerry 9550 (for CDMA model) and that in fact the 9520 does exist.
Both devices will release with OS 5.0 when available, so I’m thinking hopefully the newer OS will make the Storm2 a “new” device in terms of not being the #majorfail many have pegged on the original 9500/9530 Storm. The iteration of the new model number 9550 does indeed confirm the WiFi module in the Storm2 (as is obvious also with the 9520 numbering).
So, there you have it—the CDMA Storm2 9550 (think Verizon, of course) and the GSM 9520 (think Vodafone and Rogers, even AT&T?). Leaked info from Rogers as far back as January of this year had indicated they would be offering a WiFi version of the Storm. My guess is that they “deferred” on the original Storm for this newer Storm2.
- CDMA 1xRTT/EVDO Rev. A
- Quad-band GSM/EDGE
- Single-band UMTS/HSDPA (2100MHz only)
- Wi-Fi b,g
- 3.2 megapixel camera
- 360×480 resolution capacitive screen
- OS 5.0
This is great news, but I am hoping we will get the oppty to upgrade early and it really needs more application memory. Just add 1GB and charge us accordingly.
I'd rather have a faster processor....

I've heard they picked a better one...Quote:

Actuall, I got my devices mixed up. I'm not sure about the 9550s processor. I was thinking of the Onyx.
Yeah all we need to know is what processor and what the app mem will be?
4 months between now and then jl. Technology could be way ahead by then. I know I'm jumping way ahead of the gun but from a manufacturing standpoint I've seen the substitutions all the time. Even just before production and the transition is seamless. Hopeing for the best....expecting, well you know...
