What Can I do to make by 9550 faster? It's so slow and freezes!!

I'm new to phone software and the inner workings so please be kind..lol

Problem is the phone is very slow while switching to and from any screen. Trying to access folders on the memory card takes like 30sec per selection.

It's driving me crazy to say the least!

It has the latest BB OS and i've tried a hard reset to no avail.

Can someone please help me to get this thing cleaned up and keep only the minimal features on it. I only use it for phone, sms, mms, and to browse the web from time to time and get emails.

I just want this thing to work normal or a bit better than normal...its sooo slllooowww

    Thank you all

Make sure you don't have a lot of apps open at once and not a lot of apps installed.

well, I think we need to be more specific here, lol. What OS are you using? And if it's only those 5 options you use it shouldn't slow down that much. Other things you may want to look into is how many messages you have stored, clear cookies and all that jazz from the browser, and set up the memory cleaner. Mine slows down a bit from time to time, but it beats shuffling thru paperwork. You can also shrink the OS to free up more memory if needed.

First of all, let's see what's running on your phone. Press and hold the menu key for a second or two. It's the BB key to the left of the trackpad. What you'll see is a list of apps that are currently running on your phone. Some of these, such as Home, Messages, Browser, BBM, cannot be shut down, but many others can. If you see many other apps in that list, go to one of them. Once it's opened, press the menu key and select Close or Exit. This will properly shut down the app. Note that pressing the red phone button does not shut down the app, it minimizes it to the background where it continues to run and utilize battery power.

Another good habit to get into is to do regular battery pulls. With your phone powered on, remove the battery then replace it. This clears the cache and keeps your phone running smoothly. This is similar to restarting your PC to keep it running well. If you wish to do battery pulls but don't wish to actually remove the battery each time, I recommend a free app called QuickPull. You can even set it to restart your phone at a time when you're not there, so you don't have to worry about it at all. I've included a link to it below.

I hope my recommendations help you. Let us know your results.

Just a quick note, any app that runs off of GPS (most notably Google Maps) is a serious battery killer. Beware of that.

Also, make sure you are closing out apps after you use them by hitting the bb button and choosing close from the menu list.

If all else fails I would perform a wipe.
