Thread: Storm 2 will have WiFi and be released sooner then you may think

I just received an e-mail from an 'insider' who works for Verizon over in their offices located down the street. This person works on a senior level and has been right in the past with her information. She mentioned that Verizon has been training their tech support all last week and this week for the Storm 2. They have been told to be ready to support this by the end of this month. Could this mean the Storm 2 will be out by the end of this month? She could not confirm the day of the release but she did say it will be out soon. The end of next month the latest. She also did mention that the Storm 2 WILL have WiFi. She will be e-mailing me documentation with in the week and once I receive them, you will be the 2nd to see them.

This is not good news for the first generation Storm users since it is now obvious they have halted forward movements with their first generation. As mentioned in previous speculations the 2nd generation Storm will no longer have be on the 4.x OS but will be set out with the 5.0 OS. Hopefully unlike its father, the Storm 2 will not have the flaws and problems that the first Storm had at release.

one more reason to get rid of my 9500 (wich I'm still considering) but an unlocked of this babies can make me happy...

I think this is a bad PR move on VZWs part unless they offer a sweet upgrade deal for v1 owners. I also think this was carefully planned, possibly to test the BB touch screen market. Two points a) BOGO on the hottest device on the market....really? b) I always wondered why when I'm building themes plasmic has a wifi icon in the stock storm theme?? Coincidence, I think not.

I will certainly be in line to get it on release day. Even though as most have mentioned, it is a slap to the face to the original Storm owners, i'll just take the licking while i'm buying the Storm 2. Hopefully there will be some kind of Incentive to upgrade, maybe a discounted price or something along those lines, or else I can see a call to verizon tech, and then a brand new storm on Ebay.

The wifi would be a HUGE benefit for me. I don't have data service where i live, so it's basically a dumb phone when i'm at the house, but i do have satellite internet, and the wifi would be great so that i could still receive all my e-mails and such here at home.

I figure it will be probably around the 499.99 full retail price. Maybe even 549.99. But if i was a betting man, i would sat AT LEAST 450+

This sounds to good to be true but I am hoping for the best as I would love to see this phone come out sooner rather than later. Boy Genius got a hold from one of his insiders at VZW and it did not show the Storm 2 on their roadmap for the foreseeable future. I am not saying BGR is always right but one thing we know for certain is that VZW tends to delay their releases not expedite them.

whats up all? been a little while for me since im in the middle of the ocean right now. sadly to say if this happens i think im done with the Storm. obviously even RIM/VZW see it as inferior and thats why they are rushing to put out a 2nd one already. May end up going to another evil phone. only time will tell. Unless they make it where if you got screwed and bought a Storm they allow you to upgrade for cheap to the Storm 2.
