Thread: Leaked OS: BlackBerry Storm2 9550 - 5.0.0.895

Well it has been a long time since BlackBerry Storm2 9550 owners have had a leak, but at long last 5.0.0.895 has shown up. I for one am glad a new build has come out. Hopefully Verizon is testing either this version or a newer one and will eventually make its way out from big red.

I'm curious if the boot time has been sped up. That and screen rotation time are my only real minuses with the current OS from Verizon.

2 things that I noticed right away, the boot screen is slightly different, and it's only taking about 5 minutes to boot up instead of the normal 10+ with .713.

I also noticed using SMS you now have the ability to go beyond 160 characters!!! However the device you are sending to needs to be EMS capable. (Enhanced Messaging Service)

Is anyone having the "robot voice" issue while making a phone call, that I have been reading on other sites? I don't really make a lot of phone calls, but that's one issue I think I could do without.

I'm getting this weird robot voice thing. It's horrible. let me know if anyone else has this looks like we'll need to revert back.

I was getting the "robot" voice as well. I couldn't take it anymore I just reverted back. Sad I liked the beyond 160 feature for SMS. Guess the app will just have to due for now.

Man it seems as if I'm the only one enjoying this build. No robot sound or whatever you guys are experiencing, my sound quality is GREAT with a very strong signal. browser is like mad fast, scroll through hundreds of pics with no lag. So yea I'm lovin this one. but for some of you PLEASE load after a fresh wipe (both factory and BBSAK) and do not forget to delete the Vendor.

I have the "robot voice" issue on 713. I was hoping 895 would fix that issue. Anyone have any idea what is causing it?

No robot voice for me. But the .. type a long text and it breaks it into multiple texts doesn't work. I typed a long one and it just sent 3 blank texts to the person

No robot voice for me either. I havnt checked to see if the person I sent a long text to, had received it blank. I was lazy & installed it over .713(wasn't getting robot voice there either). Anyone wanting to remove BBM(which is now in core apps) can probably download a later version than what's on there & it moves the updated version to the add-on folder, where you can then go ahead & delete it. Found this out after upgrading to the beta version. Overall, I'm happy with this build.

I was able to send a long txt to someone and it worked just fine. Again the person who is receiving needs to have a EMS capable device.

was just on a quick phone call and had the robot voice through out the convo, very annoying!

I think its only when using the device WITHOUT a bluetooth

I have been fortunate enough to not have the robot voice so far. All else has been great.

very good, but i cant play need for speed shift 3d, when i open the game my storm 2 restart.

I really don't llike this OS anymore, A LOT of typing lag in SMS...
