Question 9550 browser on hotspot only

i am in malaysia using my 9550. i want to use my broadband sim (celcom) to work and the phone only recognizes under browser configuration hotspot only.

according to celcom i must subscribe to bis to do surfing
but i also hav a 9700 when i put the same broadband sim it works fine and i can surf using that sim.

how can i make my 9550 work the same as that of my 9700.

both phones are not subscribed to BIS.

i don't want to think that the 9550 has such limitations.

    hayah what to do?

    First off, welcome to !

Now, have you gone into your browsers configuration and made sure that it wasn't set to "Hotspot" only? If it is, does it have the other options to switch to? If so are they blurred out?

Okay. If it's not in configuration, have you looked in General Properties? I know it's a basic question, but not being there it's tough to diagnose it :P

After this, I would say have you tried an OS restore? Have you registered your Host Routing Table? There are numerous possibilities here.

Lastly, your subscriber is semi-right. Without BIS, it may limit your options. Why it doesn't on the 9700 is luck, but it's beyond me that it's symptoms are not the same as the 9550.

general porperties still only has one option hot spot
haven't done os restore nor host routing table either

i don't think its luck i am sure there is a logical way of explaining it.

my requirement is simple i just want my broadband sim to work with my 9550 so i can use my internet subscription from my usb modem to bb

Oh. That definitely won't change then. In order for data to transfer to a BB from your provider, it does require a BIS plan. Why it works on your 9700 I am not sure.

The reason it only shows hotspot is because hotspot = WiFi. Anything else will require data, thus requiring a BIS plan.

Shimmy is right. In order to use the internet other than wifi or hotspot you must be subscribed to a data plan or bis. The reason your 9700 is working is the same reason your 9550 is working...wifi.

You will only have the hotspot option and no others because you are not subscribed to a data package. Once you do subscribe to one, you will see all other options besides hotspot.

    thank you joshjamie,

ok that i can understand of enrolling to a data plan.

so meaning i dont have to tweak my 9550 to make it work?no software or os will address this issue?

broadband sim with 9700 = internet not a problem/strait away no issue/ i dont have to set wifi on.

broadband sim with 9550 = "this is a wifi service.please ensure your device has an active wifi connection and try again".
