Thread: Need Help w/ Unlocked Storm 2

Hey All,

I have been scouring the net for an answer to this question.

I have an unlocked Storm 9550 with an AT&T BIS account. I have migrated all my data from my old Curve 8310 to it successfully, except.....now I have no e-mail or internet browser.

No icon for the browser appears and and under the browser setting, all that I can choose from is Hotspot. No internet option.

One last thing, in the email configuration, it only shows the BES option, not the ability to add from another email account. Very unnerving..

My OS version is 5.0.0.320
Platform 4.2.0.124

Is there a way to get the browser and e-mail to function, or did I just waste my money on this phone?

You may have to resend your service books.

If you haven't already done so, you will need to setup a BIS account for AT&T, use the link below.

You can resend your service books through the help section. Once you have done that you will see the browser icon and have the ability to set up a new email account(s)

There is a great set of instructions on Crackberry on how to get the Browser and e-mail to work, but it only gave me access under a HotSpot connection with Wi-Fi. I need Internet and my BB Messenger to work consistantly. My work depends on it. I'm thinking of taking it to an AT&T store to see if they can fix it. Has anyone tried this yet? I love the phone and hate the thought of going back to my old BB Curve 8310.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciative.

I have gone to AT&T BIS site and they won't let me register this phone on there site. I have to think it's because AT&T does not support the BB Storm 9550.

I've used BB manager to reload Service Books, enabled Legacy, which was the key to getting the Browser to work, and used CrackUtil to remove and reinstall the Browser deamon..Hope I spelled that right.

Nothing seems to make the Browser, e-mail and BB Messenger work consistantly on the "Internet" connection.

Rcloke....have you tried the above suggestion?

I don't think there's much I haven't tried.. I'm hoping that someone a whole lot smarter than me has successfully migrated to the Storm with AT&T.

By they way, I do have a AT&T BIS unlimited data package.

Love the phone, but if I can't get this fixed......it might be on the way out.

When you removed the browser daemon did you apply the service books first or did you remove the browser daemon first?

Browser first, then added it back and then Service books...

Does anyone know for sure that it can been done.

Yes it can be done I have done it multiple times with great success... Here is my suggestion.. Wipe your device and try a newer OS.. Either .607 or .713. After you install the new Os remove the browser, THEN add service books, and then re apply the browser... Give that a try and let us know..

Edit: Also make sure you register with the network under host routing table after you completed the above. You may need to do a battery pull after you register. Don't forget to change your TCP/IP settings as well.

One last question, I'm currently running OS v5.0.0.320. Where can I download and exactly what version should I install.

Wouls this enable 'Internet" access, and not just "Hotspot" access?

Hey bud, you add the service books BEFORE you re-add daemon.cod. I had a Storm with AT&T and the process is very simple, yet annoying :P

Wipe the phone and add the OS of your choice.
After it's up and running with the new OS, plug it in.
Backup your phone (Everything).
Remove daemon.cod
Using DM, install the AT&T service books.
Add daemon.cod

Voila. It should work, I haven't done this process in a LONG time though. To resend the service books, do it by logging into your BIS account and then resend 'em.

PS: I just realized, that's exactly what hodges said :P

Click on the downloads tab at the top of the page. Go to official software and select the 9550... Yes this would enable the internet not just the hotspot browser.
