Thread: No love for Storm2 - 9550

With all the leaks coming out for other various models, I am starting to feel like the Redheaded Stepchild. Nothing since .607. Either feast or famine and I am looking kind of skinny. What with this guys. Anyone have anything enlightening?

Believe me I am right there with you... I want a leak soooo bad :aargh4:. From what I hear the reasoning behind not having as many leaks for the 9550 is because devices like the 9520 are more spread out throughout the world then the 9550.

The overwhelming consensus that I have been hearing is that the reason this device is not seeing as many leaks as other is mainly because this device (9550) is mainly sold in North America therefor there are a limited number of carriers that test OS's for this device. Since that being the case, there may not be very many OS build for carriers to test...

The main reason I sure is just because they feel like the phone is fine. There is no glaring issues. I am running .517 and the only thing I can think of is maybe a faster keyboard and for .607 they need Opera fixes but really I would say it has plateaued for 5.0. And with the development of 6 just look forward to that.

All in all I am happy where I am at and I just want the webkit in 6. Well the gestures would be great too!

well i think the carriers should care about it, and start think on all those who trust on them and now are waiting with their brand new phone, for the release of the OS 6,

Im 1 of them i just bought my storm 2 ? now what? should i trough it to the sea ?
they should had started from the beginning and shrink that os a bit, to make it fit on our deviced, which has less than a year realeaseed..

anyways.. if RIM decided to not include this deviced, STORM 9550 and the BOLD 9700 which i used and are brand new.. i will stop using them and move to other phone.

:yo: Unless, I'm dreaming, Verizon released v5.0.0.713 for the storm 9550 on 6/18/2010. I don't know which carrier you have but that is the latest Official OS available right now for the Storm 9550. I have this version installed on my 9550 as we speak. I hope this helps.

Don't throw it into the sea just yet. lol Although, I have wanted to ever since news of verizon's testing OS6 on storm 2 coming to a halt. very sad for us. more for you. You got to hang on to yours for a while.:no:. i have a an upgrade waiting on me. I just don't want an android device. I like Blackberry. May use my upgrade on The Odin Refresh device.... basically a storm 2 that can run OS6, 5.0mp camera, and better wifi. Maybe it will be released soon. Just hate to buy the same phone I have or can I call it the same phone. its technically a better phone. :aargh4: Torn.

so what's the deal with the Storm3 any late breaking news on that and if so will it have OS6?

from what i have read there are two storm devices in rumor. the first and probably the soonest to release in the Odin Refresh. Which have lots of device improvements over the S2. 5.0mp camera, better wifi, OS6, 512-1gb ram, 3g device hot spot (something new built in that creates a wifi hot spot from your phone, like the ones they sell standalone), still has surepress. But still looks like a storm 2.

The other rumored device, which was rumored first was a 1ghz processor, independent OS (new UI with wigets), and some other things like 13 boot up time. (memory is failing me)

Both have been rumored here on blackberryos.com (search storm 3) both have been fairly recent.

Well, this Red Headed Step Child has just run away from home. Yeap, I officially quit the Storms and went over to the Droid Dark Side with the Droid X. I think the final straw was with the phone itself and the compatibility issue with OS6. Enough is enough. RIM had better get off their duff and do something or there will be a lot more people like me jumping ship.

Been running that before verizon made it official. the OP was before that was released anyway. Now need some love from OS6. Probably going to grab the "Odin refresh" when it decides to show its face. unless someone wants to leak the verizon version of OS6 for the 9550 they were testing. Hmmmm?
