Help...phone won't reboot.
So, I downloaded Fandango...played with it a bit and decided to reboot my phone. Now, it won't reboot. I see the hour glass for a few seconds, it disappears and then the red LED comes on for a few seconds and then it starts all over again. Over and over...won't turn on.
Any suggestions?
Thx,
T

Continue to pull the battery. I would try that more than a few times.
My next suggestion would be to boot up in safe mode.
Sounds like you are having a 3rd party app issue and safe mode would help to determine that.

How do you boot up in safe mode?
-
Okay...I'm mobile so I cannot see your device info.
Which device are you using?

9550
I've already pulled the battery about ten times...same thing.
Thx for your help.

Should be easy enough.
Take the battery cover off and remove battery.
Reinsert battery and at the same time as the device would start to boot press and hold the return key.
The device should boot into safe mode.

Nope...doesn't work. The bottom buttons actually feel like they do when it's locked...they don't press in.
-
I'll have to look at the 9550 user guide to find out the particulars with safe mode.
Making my commute right now.

I found it and you were pretty much right:
Turn on safe mode
When you start your BlackBerry® device, you can turn on safe mode to prevent third-party applications from running automatically. This safe
mode enables you to troubleshoot or remove any unwanted applications.
1. Remove and reinsert the battery.
2. When the red LED light goes out, press and hold the Escape key as the device is loading.
3. When the dialog appears, click OK.
When safe mode is on, a safe mode indicator appears in the device status section of the Home screen.
To turn off safe mode, repeat step 1.
But, my four bottom keys are non-responsive. Don't know what to do. I'm on a trip overseas right now...this freakin' sucks!!

Anybody got any other ideas? Kinda desperate here. LOL
-
Yup T-Rob...
I'm working on it.
Looking for answers. One way or another we have to get that device into safe mode to remove the bad app.
-
Roger that, man....thank you!
I've tried everything...once the red light goes out, I hold and press the escape button but it doesn't recognize it and then goes back through it's sequence: red light, hour glass, red light, hour glass.
Thanks again for your help.

I wonder if you continued to let the device cycle in that boot sequence if it would eventually kick the SFI file in to load. That's what is missing.

I let it run for about 30 mins earlier...nothing. Doing it again...been running for about 10 mins now.
-
Yeah...That's okay....
You will eventually run the battery down doing that.
If you have a PC that can connect to the device and you somehow managed to bring your Sync cable with you, then does the PC recognize the device?
-
I was wondering when you were going to ask that. I brought the wall charger with me, but not the sync cable. I usually bring it with me, but forgot it this time. I guess I could go out to the store and buy another one.
-
Take the Media and Sim cards out and see if it will boot then.

-
It was worth a shot.
Need that sync cable now.
-
Question: What happens if it doesn't show on my pc with the cable? Am I screwed until I get back and take it in?
