Not necessarily, there are ways that we can help to get the PC to wipe the device and reload an OS from scratch.

    Yeah but....
At least you could get an OS on the device and would be able to use it then when you get back you can load the backup :fing02:

I appreciate your help, but I think I'm just gonna wait till I get back. I guess it won't kill me not to have my BB for a few days. LOL It'll be a first for me not to have my BB...have had one for the last few years.

Thanks again, Pascal...I really appreciate your efforts.

    Not a problem.
I bet when you get back to your PC that it won't take you no time to get that device right.
I take my laptop everywhere, always have.

    No.
Take the battery out, plug the phone into the PC and put the battery in.
    This can clear some jams.

    Tried this with the charger?
    Resistance is futile.

No a wall charger wont do it.
It needs the data connection to be activated by the PC (or for it to try too).
A wall charger is just a wall charger.
Ask around if anyone has one for a NOKIA or anything like that.
The Blackberry lead is very similar to a NOKIA lead in fact its a universal connection on the USB lead

Alrighty...got a sync cable. Here's what I've done...took the battery out, plugged S2 into my laptop, put in battery...nothing. Still keeps going throught the red light, hour glass sequence.

Also tried the safe mode...still won't work.

    Any suggestions?

Is the PC recognizing the device?
Does the PC map the drives?

It recognized that a BB was plugged in, installed the drivers (never plugged in my BB to this laptop till now) and that's it. No, my laptop is not mapping the drives.

If the PC can see the Device then I suggest BBSAK to wipe device then load an OS.
I know you don't have a backup with you however, your OS has been compromised.
Once a new OS has been installed then you may be able to use the device. When you are able then you could load your backup onto the device.

I agree nothing else for it.
If the laptop hasnt been used before it should ensure a clean install.
I must admit, its at times like that when you need something like SmrtGuard.
(Thanks for letting me win it on your Birthday)

Good luck bro, I will be interested to see how you get on.

Well, I'm back in the US now. Went by the Verizon center and they told me that they could not get into it to wipe it, so they ordered me a new phone...will be here tomorrow. Question: When I get it, do I just do a *228 to get everything working again? Will my number be associated with the new phone?

    Thx,
    Tim

It should be ready for *228 when you get it, provided they registered the phone to your account. There will be instructions included with your replacement device on what to do.
